Former Bears first-rounder Chris Williams is apparently going to take his time making a decision on his next employer.

After working out for the Eagles and Cardinals, his next stop is with the Chargers, according to Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 in Phoenix.

Sounds like he's got his pick. I wonder why we couldn't get a 6th/7th round pick for him? Despite him not dressing for us there is obvioulsy something of a market for him.

The other possibility is that he worked out for those teams and they didn't want him.

Somewhere things have gone astray in the football world. High School Football is to be played on Friday Night. College Football is to be played on Saturday afternoon. NFL Football is to be played on Sunday afternoon. While Monday Night Football has been a part of my life since I was 10 years old, watching the game with the mute button on after my bedtime, it has always been a nice OPTIONAL distraction. I liked having a choice of staying up to watch a game between 2 teams I didn't care about or having a Bears game once a year on MNF.

But I am torn. My team playing in Monday and Sunday night games means that the Bears are a good team. And now that I live outside of the Chicago area, it also means that I can watch more games live on my TV instead of going to a bar, following on Gamecast or now finding an illegal website to watch games online.

But as Goony has said in the past, a night game means a full day of anticipation, eating, and drinking and usually exhaustion by the game time if on Sunday Night. A MNF game means a full day of work, dinner, kids/family (if you have them), and usually exhaustion by game time. A loss means angry and tired going to bad unable to sleep and unwillingness to get up for work the next day. A win means too much excitement/adrenaline to fall asleep and unwillingness to get up for work the next day.

Its getting worse and worse, I like the 12:00 games on Sunday. It's too early to where you shouldn't do anything before the game and there's still time after the game to get stuff done. The 3:00 start, I still don't want to do anything beforehand but once its done, won't do anything afterwards.

It will be week 8 before we finally have our 3rd noon Sunday start of the year. So far we've had 2 Noon Sundays (Colts, Rams), a Sunday 3PM (Jags), 2 MNF (Cowboys, Lions), a Thursday night game (Packers) and a bye. Then after 2 noon games we have 2 more primetime games in a row. The good news is that 5 of our last 6 games will be noon games with the other being a 3pm

Until 1 of them gets flexed out and another moved to the late game.

So during the Bears 15 day sabbatical, the division improved. Overall the division went 4-1 since the last time the Bears played (Packers went 2-0, Vikings went 1-1, Lions went 1-0).

Mondays have become kind of a pain for me to stop & just watch football. I would rather the Bears just play Sunday afternoon when I'm not busy.

I understand Chicago is a pretty big city and all, but if I had never seen football in my life and I saw a 6'4", athletically build black man, I would assume he played football somewhere and wouldn't ask that question.

I was gonna say, I'm almost sure we'll get a game or two flexed (can they do more than one for a given team?)... Could definitely see the Minnesota game being one of those.

The Green Bay game is absolutely getting flexed.

I'm pretty sure there is a limit to the number of times a team can be picked for a prime time game and I want to say that limit is 5, which the Bears will already be at after the SF game. It's possible that teams can get a 6th if they are flexed but I don't remember the rule well enough.

Ahh...from Wikipedia:

Only three teams may make as many as six prime time appearances (Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night, and Saturday night combined).[25] The remaining teams may make a maximum of five prime time appearances.

So the Bears could be one of the 3 teams that gets flexed into a 6th primetime game. That said, the Bears and Packers both have 5 Primetime games scheduled so if they were to flex that game they'd use 2 of the 3 up in one game. Possible but not necessarily likely at this point. Bears Vikings seems like a more likely choice as long as the Vikings (or Bears I guess) haven't faded.

Move to the West Coast. After growing up in NW Indiana with the 12:00 PM/3:00 PM times ingrained in my head, and then living in Bloomington, Atlanta and then DC with 1:00 PM/4:00 PM start times, I LOVE the 10:00 AM start. And those 8:30 PM games? They start at 5:30 PM. Lovely.

The Green Bay game isn't likely to go anywhere. CBS has the doubleheader that week so it won't move to the 4:00 slot, and SNF has the 49ers at the Patriots so there will be no need for a replacement game there.

My guess is that the week 12 Bears-Minnesota game stays where it is (although if New Orleans still has a bad record it could easily move into the 4:00 slot) and the week 14 Minnesota game has a decent possibly of moving to either 4:00 or the night game depending on how Detroit and New Orleans play up until then.

Figures. When I was living on the West Coast you could count on the Bears never being on. They were generally bad, there were relatively few prime time games available, and they almost never made the West Coast coverage area. No NFL Sunday Ticket either. I feel cheated.
