Idonije tweeted a fake dinner bill they tricked the rookies with.

Apparently the actual bill was around $10k, per Zach Zaidman.

The 3 random "$9,999" non-itemized "Bears Dinner" charges didn't make the rookies skeptical?

I'm sure it was a pretty long receipt.

The Bears are going to be 3rd in the FO DVOA ratings later today, behind San Fran and Houston. NFC North has 3 of the top 7 teams in DVOA.

Full rankings here.

Bears currently sitting at just over 82% to make the playoffs. The chances of them getting the #1 seed is almost nothing, though, because Atlanta's schedule from here on out is so criminally easy. They have just one above average team left on the schedule (Giants at home week 15).

EDIT: Even more criminally easy is Denver's remaining schedule, which features zero above average teams. They've already played Atlanta, Houston and New England, though, so they're 2-3.

EDIT 2: For comparison, the Bears have six games remaining against above average teams this year (@SF, HOU, GB, @MIN, MIN, SEA) and another three against slightly below average teams (DET, @DET, @ARI)

Taking a look at the FO Defense rankings this morning, and I have to admit, I'm surprised that the Bears are #1 in pass defense, and only #12 in rush defense. Based on purely subjective observations, I'd have probably guessed it the other way around.

Apparently we really shut down opposing teams' #2 WR. TE's burn us the most, but even that really isn't bad.

The Bears are the only team in the league in the top 10 against all receivers. Every other team has at least one area to exploit (except maybe Philly, who is also above average against everyone).

EDIT: Looking at the D-Line ratings (to get a more granular look at the run defense), it looks like the Bear D is actually top 10 in every facet but one. They're apparently the worst team in the league at defending runs at the left tackle. Runs at the left tackle would actually be at the right DE, which would be Julius Peppers.

Mmmmmm... Alone in first.

Too bad Philly couldn't hold a late double digit lead or else the Bears could've put the nail in the Lions next week. Hopefully Houston can do their part tonight and the Bears can open up a nice cushion in the division.

Umm how sure are we of New England being good?

They've gotten as much a pass as the Packers have from the national media over the first part of the season. The media finally started seeing that the Packers had issues this past week. Looks like the Pats criticism should start this coming week.

The Pats have lost 3 games by a combined total of 4 points, 2 of them on the road. 1 vs another elite team, 1 in the toughest place to play in the league. They were the #2 team in rushing in the league, and 10th in passing was an underachievement influenced by 2 complete blowout wins. They stop the run on D. Pass D and pass rush are still an issue, but they are going to be a 10-win team again when the year is over. Same with the Packers. Neither of them look like Superbowl teams, but neither did the last couple SB winners as recently as Week 16 the year they won. Both are still likely playoff teams and likely to be 2 of the toughest outs in there.

Assuming the Texans can come back and win this game, the Bears are alone in 2nd for points differential. If they lose, there's a good chance the Bears are alone in first.

I wonder when the last time the Bears were #1 in DVOA was.
