Johnson & Maholm traded to Braves for RHP Vizcaino & Chapman

Maybe B Jackson is in there and we get Delgado. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT

With Maholm's favorable contract for next year, I would put his value close to Dempster's. Reed Johnson may be just enough to get the Cubs back to Delgado.

why wouldnt they? if they wer going to for dempster why wouldnt they for maholm if we agreed to pick up his option and pay most of it? maholm for 1.5 yrs is more valuable then dempster for .5 yrs in my opinion

well, in theory, maholm's extension, if not voided by trade, is pretty team friendly. but atlanta'd really have to not believe in delgado to involve him. let's be realistic

Maholm had a 3.78 FIP last year and 4.11 this year. Is that really that much worse than Dempster? Now throw in his insanely team-friendly option for next year.

Agreed. If they were willing to give up Delgado for Dumpster, why not give him up for a pitcher that is just as hot and a good 4th OFer. I'm not sure WHY they are willing to give up Delgado but who knows?
