We have a prospect named Rock Shoulders?

How have you missed this until now?

But yes, we do. And I want him to be awesome just because of the name.

Although I think it would have been hilarious if the guy were a soft-tossing lefty. Or a scrawny utility player.

I didn't follow the draft last year all that much, and judging by his numbers he's been relatively quiet so no one really talks about him.

I saw that name and I thought "This isn't the Rizzo Nickname thread..."

He did get a sizable overslot bonus last year but he has been a disappointment thus far.

I kind of get the feeling we're going to be saying that a lot (with "last year" being replaced by however many years ago it is appropriate to refer to the 2011 draft). Right idea, wrong people in charge.

No matter who is in charge, you're going to end up saying that about a lot of overslotted picks. That's just how it works.

Exactly. When a guy is a free agent (Concepcion, Suarez, Malava, the Koreans...) or doesn't particularly want to sign with you (Maples, Shoulders, etc.), you overpay to get the player. Often by a lot. We shouldn't be surprised when most of the overslot guys don't end up looking as good as you'd expect for the same dollars spent on a slot pick. Shoulders got what, $175 plus scholarship or something? Market-wise, that's really no more overslot, or barely so, than any 11-40 HS/JC this year who gets the $100 slot plus college.

Shoulders got $294,000 last year.

Could someone help me find the ignore feature? I did a little looking but didn't find it quickly.

Thanks

Replying to myself, but I would appreciate a hand if anyone could spare a few seconds

Correction - that user's PROFILE.

Unless you mods can do fancy stuff we can't.

When you click their name you go to their profile, no? I've never foed someone, and I'm not sure if my view is any different.

I didn't think mods could foe people. You're the ones responsible for keeping those who deserve to be foed from bothering the rest of us.

If they show up on the index page as the person who started a thread or the last person to post in a thread, I can click their name, but within the thread itself I can't. Is that different for other people.

Click the "profile" button at the bottom of their post.

That's the default on the subsilver board theme. If you change to a different stylesheet/theme, you get different options like clicking on the username to get the profile. But, different theme seems like a different website, entirely, and I didn't like it.
