If you feel like torturing yourself for three hours, you can listen to the worst announcing team in sports on WGN.

Go Cubs.

Daggumit.

STRETCH! STRETCH!

Peavy is licking his fingers while in the mound. Can't do it in this heat without permission correct?

I think that rule was changed a couple of years ago and pitchers can go to their mouth as long as they don't go from their mouth to the ball.

LaHair swings at ball four and Castro gets thrown out stealing.

Good lord does listening to this crappola make me so happy we have Len and Bob. I don't think I've ever heard a broadcast use so many cliches as a crutch as Hawk does.

And woo! DeJesus!

I haven't listened to Hawk one time this year, but boy is he bad. He doesn't even explain what is happening on the field. Peavy throws a wild pitch and I have no idea if the runners moved up. But he continues to not say what's happening on the field. What announcer let's his team's poor play get to him?

Go Cubs.

I grew up listening to Stone in the 80s. Hearing him "root" against the Cubs is just wrong.

Also, either his announcing ability has gone down hill or my memory is really bad. . . :-k

While many here will disagree I always enjoyed Stoney when he was with us. As for his announcing ability going down hill, perhaps poor announcing ability is contagious.

Even when I was younger I couldn't stand Harry and Stone. Stone just came across to me like he'd be the most hate-able baseball coach you could ever imagine having.

Old people loved Harry and Stone. My dad was mesmerized by his ability to predict sliders low and away.

My dislike mostly stemmed from my dad's dislike of him. Granted, my dad was young then, but still, he taught me well.

my dad hated stone too. just thought he was a smarmy jerk. i remember one time he saw something in the paper about stone wanting to be a gm and he just lost his mind.

Harry was always in the same boat as Ronnie to me. Nobody was ever going to accuse them of being the greatest announcers, but damned if they didn't make up for it with their charm, though I can imagine the opponents fans despising them.

Caray was really good when he was younger. I remember when I was a kid and they showed the 1984 division clincher during a rain delay. I couldn't believe the funny old man sounded like a "real announcer" back then.

Santo never bugged me because he was just the color guy on the radio broadcast so I could enjoy how goofy he was because he was backing up a pro like Pat. Harry honestly ticked me off much as Hawk does for the Sox now; it's absurd that such a mess could be the PbP guy for the TV broadcast.

Though to be fair to Harry he was a hell of a broadcaster before health issues and the drinking took their real toll. Unfortunately that was pretty much all before his time with the Cubs.
