On Fox Sports Midwest Cards post-game, Chris Duncan just called the Cubs shortstop, Sterling Castro. They are ripping Sveum for calling on Castro to bunt though.

Terry Francona was kind of questioning it on ESPN as well.

Good God, was flipping channels and just came across the most meatbally White Sox commercial ever.

Was it about GRINDERS?

I think it was the one about Mike Caruso's 2 run homer in a game at Wrigley. I think the Sox swept that series.

Nah, some walk off grand slam by Ventura. Then how he cares about fundamentals and playing the game the right away, and omg kill me.

He's waiting until Theo decides he's had enough of Sveum holding the spot and decides to bring Francona in

Good lord, does Sutcliffe ever say anything informed? He just talks out of his ass.

For example, in the 2nd or 3rd Castro ranged pretty far to his right to come up with a ball and made a good throw to Barney at 2nd for a force out. Sutcliffe praised Barney for "playing the game the right way" and "being in a position to catch the throw."

So, the amazing viewpoint I had from the 2ND FREAKING ROW!!!!! had me absolutely amazed at how fast Campana is. He's fast on TV, but holy isht is he fast in person. That routine ground ball to 2nd in the 1st inning really looked like he was safe he got down the line so fast.

Great game other than the bed crapping inning, which I fortunately missed most of while in the Build-a-Bear shop.

I'd stick to competing next year personally. My goals for this season have become extending Garza, watch for more of the same out of Shark, sell as high as possible on Soto and Dempster, hope LaHair can be better than the worst defensive LFer in history, hope Rizzo and Brett can become solid starters, and find a few bullpen arms that have staying power. If these things happen, we'll make some major moves heading into next year. Oh, I'd love to see Stewart lock down 3B for the next couple of seasons too.

With losses by Milwaukee and Houston tonight, the Cubs are now tied for fourth.

this year's central might be the worst division ever.

I still think 2006's is worse, though there's still time.

The worst ever were the cardboard sign ones. I was truely embarrassed for Nick Swisher.

There are three teams in the West with worse records than anyone in the Central.

I still don't think it's a good idea, but I do feel better having read some of Sveum's comments about Castro's bunt. He said that Castro shouldn't have been bunting when he saw the infield charging hard and should have pulled back and slashed, which is reasonable with Castro's contact ability. He also said that he figured the likely outcome of the bunt was LaHair getting walked, and he liked bases loaded, 1 out for Soriano better than 1st and 2nd, 0 outs for Castro. Maybe I watched Little Big League too many times, but I don't like taking the bat out of your 3 and 4 hitters intentionally. That said, I like that there's some semblance of logic being articulated as to why they went that route.

Don't forget the AL Central. The only reason some of these teams' records are as good as they are is because they play each other.

And then his manager told him to get back to stocking those cereal boxes.

Some semblance of thinking involved, maybe. But it's not logical at all.

Hah, I've probably seen that commercial a dozen times and completely zone out each time.
