Agreed. It will make me very VERY sad to see him go, but he deserves a chance at a ring. It's been an emotional roller coaster with Dempster, for me. Highs (his great starting lately) and lows (when he tanked as a closer). Still liked him when others were calling him "dumpster".

Also, he took the tires off Will Ohman's SUV and put them in the shower.

Game 1 of the 2008 NLDS was much lower than anything he did as a closer.

Yeah, I was going to mention that.

Whatever we can get for Dempster or Garza, it isn't coming from the Blue Jays. They've now lost Morrow, Drabek and Hutchison the past time through their rotation.

How about we help Jay's get back on their feet and give them a combo package of Garza and Demp for d'Arnaud and a few other prospects.

Hmm....why not?

Probably because those losses all but take them out of contention, even if they add a SP.

Not every team folds up and gives up on entire seasons because it looks like it might be hard. That's just a Cubs thing.

And picking your battles is often the prudent thing to do.

Yeah, and especially in that division I guess. Too bad Dempster won't be back in his native land.

I guess Dempster was hanging out at Wrigley with some friends for a while after the game today. Think he knows something we don't? :bye:

Gail Fischer tweeted that picture, by the way, according to a guy at PSD

Ha, there's one man in pants in that picture....the professional athlete.

It's ridiculous how much bigger even a pitcher is than normal human men. And those are some dudes that drink beer.

I just had assumed that Dempster was on one of the WS Marlins team, but apparently his career with them was bookended by both wins.

Clearly not a championship pitcher.

Ryan Dempster - S - Cubs

According to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo, the Dodgers ''could pull the trigger soon'' on a trade for Ryan Dempster.

Cafardo reports that Dodgers scouts were in attendance Friday and that Dempster and his friends ''got together on the field, as if toasting the end of his Cubs days.'' That's all speculation for now, of course. But Dempster has talked with management more than once about the prospects of being traded and waiving his no-trade rights. The Blue Jays also reportedly have serious interest.

It sounds like the Dodgers are in the lead for Dempster. What deal would you find acceptable? Over/under: Nathan Eovaldi and Angel Sanchez?

Youre not getting Lee. Ask for him, settled for a lesser prospect or 2 who would still be an acceptable return.

Is it still not possible if Russell is included? There have been reports that multiple teams have been interested. I don't dislike Eovaldi, but I'd much rather have Lee and Beliveau could probably perform pretty close to on par with Russell.

Dempster/Russel for Lee/R.Patterson would make me pretty happy.
