It's gonna happen. Don't worry your darling little heads.

Yeah, I still believe this will happen. And TT's hypothetical would be amazing (Garza goes to Dodgers in the meantime) as long as it wasn't underhanded.

Dempster refutes report he was "blindsided" by Atlanta agreement. Says club kept him informed. Was upset it leaked before he gave an answer.

Oh FFS. I'd tell him to cry about it, but apparently he already is. That's even dumber than the blindsided business.

Demp: "I have a pretty good idea of where I want to go." Wouldn't discuss Braves/LA. Willing to take til deadline to decide.

[expletive] this and seriously [expletive] you Dempster if the only reason you didn't accept was because of the media

It would be better if it was underhanded.

Would it do any good to not start him? Basically, does it add any value to other teams if they are able to start him as soon as they trade for him (if a trade with Atl or someone else goes down Thursday-Saturday)?

Demp: Decision "gets harder when something that wasn't supposed to become public knowledge becomes public knowledge."

Well now I'm irritated, because I had been given the impression that Dempster accepting a deal would not be a problem. This is some combination of Dempster's fault or the media that spread the "Dempster okay with Atlanta" narrative, so I'm just going to temporarily hate all of them for a little while.

i read this as he is pissed that it leaked out because he wasn't going to accept it and now everyone knows he's being a tool so he is more likely to take it now.

ost subject: Re: Dempster to Braves for Delgado/Trade Pending Demp's Appr Reply with quote

If, and it's obviously an "if" the Dodgers have Eovaldi on the table for Dempster and he's willing to go there, just go ahead and make the deal. I like Delgado a bit more, but Eovaldi is still a helluva return.

If Dempster is creating a situation where the Dodgers are the only bidders for his services, I don't see why they would give up Eovaldi ... or much of anything, for that matter.

Because if it comes down to it, we could just offer him arby and get anoother year of him or the comp pick (s) rather than saying gee Ned, thanks for Juan Uribe and that bag of balls.

Assuming that Garza's soreness is just that, and I'm sure that there're medical records readily available, I wonder if they have something on the backburner with the Braves for Garza if this falls through. Kind of coincidental that at the same time as the Dempster deal was buzzing, there was talk that Garza for Lee was also in talks, which evaporated pretty much the minute the Dempster deal hit that snag.

So, didn't he say yesterday that there was no trade? But today, there was a trade but he didn't OK it yet.

If I had to make a prediction, I'd say the deal still goes through. But his "I know where I want to go" shtick coupled with his hesitation is bleeding the FO of leverage. If he does kill the ATL deal, we're not getting [expletive] in return.

And there's always the chance he blows in his next start or the Braves get a better offer.

Demp says welcomes odes of extension if traded but not asking for one as part of process.

That actually makes sense.

if no one knew he declined it, he could still be some sort of lovable wrigley clown until he's inevitably run out of town.

Yes, but I can't really blame him for trying to be coy at first.

Is it possible he's upset about the Braves deal going public because he didn't want to publicly veto something? That's one of the few logical reasons I could imagine him being upset that the deal became public. Edited by ctcf

That makes no sense, at all. The paradigm of Dempster's decision did not change with the "leak." (If he thought he could make the decision, turn down the trade offer to the Braves, and never have that become public knowledge, he's foolishly naive -- the media is quite good at discovering such information.)

Remember a couple pages ago when it wasn't kosher to be annoyed with Dempster? That was cute.
