lol Duke is losing to BC now if that holds (down 3 with 2 minutes left), I think its pretty much a reset and Indiana stays #1. Man if Indiana had lost today, Gonzaga could have had a slight shot to jump up to #1.

Guessing Indiana and Florida will remain 1-2, Gonzaga and Arizona jump up to 3-4, Miami 5

Ok Duke came back and won. Disregard that post. I still think Indiana will stay 1 despite the loss to Illinois. That was an extremely impressive road win today.

Normally they wouldn't stay 1 but when the 2,3 and 5 teams all lost and Duke doesn't inspire confidence in anyone, they will probably get the nod.

Hey guys, I've been out on vacation for a week, what's going on in here....

Um, get the hell out of here, you're clearly the problem!

I didn't think Illinois would get anywhere near the Top 25 again this year, but it should be interesting to see the new rankings tomorrow. They really need to win the next 3 games to get to .500 in the Big 10 before finishing up with some more tough games at the end of their schedule.

i'm definitely starting to believe that they're not that bad

They just need to get into the tournament. They could lose to the worst team in the field, but they also have the ability to beat any team in college basketball on any given night. If they can just get in, I would not be shocked at all if they win a few games and make a nice run.

groce usually has his teams ready to play by the postseason.

Yep, I love love love this hire.

They've been playing much faster the last few games. You can tell they're reacting a little more instinctively now instead of having to think before every move they make. If Griffey can continue to contribute offensively, that's huge because his shooting ability will open up the middle a lot by drawing one of the other team's big guys to the perimeter. I'm not sold yet, but I'm getting closer to believing this is real improvement and not just fluke wins.

I think that win is bigger than beating Indiana at home. 5 wins against the RPI top 15, no other team in the country can say that. Three of them came away from home, which makes it even more impressive.

That is pretty impressive.

I think Illinois *should* be ranked. They are a solid team who have had some struggles. I think they will struggle again, but if/when they keep their opponents from getting to the line overmuch, they are very dangerous. The losses to Purdue and Northwestern were tough and really hurt, no doubt about it. But a win at Minnesota balances the scales, and the win against Indiana was big.

The big problem that I can foresee is that Illinois relied on the three for 32.8% of its points, but only shoots 32.7% (both for the season) from three point range. In conference play, defense has tightened up and that has forced Illinois down to only 27% of its points coming from the three (while hitting 26.7%) -- but they are still taking a ton of three point shots.

I think they have 4 more conference wins in them for sure, against Purdue, Northwestern, Penn State, and Nebraska. Can they win that game on the road against Iowa? Because Iowa will need it just as bad. On the road at Michigan and Ohio St. will be difficult, for sure. 4-3 to close out the conference puts them 8-10 / 21-11 with a solid resume for the tournament. 5-2, I think, has to get them in. Likewise, a good run in the Big Ten Tournament would help.

8-10 in the B10 is not even a question. Illinois in.

Iowa can't get in over them if it's close, look at who weve beaten, they can't compare with that, at all. That was more to raw than you though.

Yeah, I think they have a decent chance at 7-11, and would belong over an 8-10 Iowa team.

We are the number 25 team according to RPI right now.

Iowa is the number 92. Iowa better win at Indiana, that's it's best chance at a marquee win left.
