That wasn't the point. You don't see the irony that you (a fan of an irrelevant program) pointed out your amusement of someone of a recently (not currently, and not for most of the last 40 years) irrelevant team talking about relevance when your team has been irrelevant forever?

no, you're missing the point. i can point out that a fan of any team is being stupid, regardless of what team i root for.

Just like George Bush can point out another president did a crappy job too. He would sound like a dumbass too saying it.

you don't get it as evidenced by that nonsense analogy.

I'll explain it to you for the third and final time. me saying an IU fan is being stupid has nothing to do with me being an iowa state fan. your "right" to call some dumb fan out on their idiocy is not tied to who you root for.

I keep trying to think of a new way to explain it to you and I can't. sorry.

Yes, because the problem is I don't get your point. By that same logic, then the IU fan can point our your stupidity to even get into a conversation about relevance given your affiliation. That's how it works. Hence the analogy, Bush has every right to point out someone being terrible at their job. If it's a fact, it's a fact no matter where it came from. But when he points out that someone is being terrible at their job, he's going to get it thrown right back at him because of the fact he was terrible at his job. Just like when an ISU fan says an IU fan shouldn't be talking about relevance, he's going to get a response regarding his even being in a conversation about relevance in the first place.

Secondly, how long is this "IU wasn't relevant for 3 years" thing going to last? It's not like they went from 3 20-loss seasons to hovering around .500. They won 27 games last year and was the preseason #1 this year, and current #3 team in the nation. That's pretty relevant. Hell, they played 7 nationally televised games in 2009, the year after having 3 scholarship players. And that's not counting the games in PR or the B1G/ACC challenge.

so if some miami of ohio fan says his program is the best program in the nation, the only person that can dispute that is the fan of the team that is ACTUALLY the best program in the nation.

No, like I said a fact is a fact no matter where/who it comes from. But there's a difference between a NIU fan saying, "hey Miami OH is not the best program" and saying, "what does a Miami OH fan know about being the best program".

Any of you watch that UK/Ole Miss game last night? Marshall completely sucked except for hitting free throws when he got fouled on bad shots he would have missed anyways. Ole Miss looked like a really dumb team. Their defense was terrible. Offensively everything was 1 on 1. Chuck up a bad quick shot, dumb forced mid-range jumper or drive in and get swatted by Noel.

That's just SEC basketball.

That was a brutal game to watch for a Rebel fan. Ole Miss was a hysterical 28 of 85 (.329) from the floor. Kentucky was 28 of 56 (.500). Noel was a beast.

Meanwhile, Wally Szczerbiak is happy that you guys are talking about his alma mater.

First time Miami has probably been mentioned in a basketball thread. They're really bad this year (just like every MAC team).

Is it worth my time to go visit Welsh-Ryan? Cheap seats are going for $20 Saturday. I've heard it's just like a high school gym though.

When you have tradition, your small old gym is cozy or a classic.

When you don't, it's a high school gym.

W-R seating is pretty close to the court and it gets loud. The scoreboard sucks, but there aren't a lot of bad seats, especially for $20.

Haha, no insult intended, my high school gym seated 5k (which isn't in the top 30 in Indiana). So even if I'm most of the way up on the 210-214 side the views are ok?

Haha, I wasn't directing that at you.

I haven't sat up there, but you should be okay. The place is pretty small and there aren't obstructions or anything.

AJ Hammons just picked up a foul.

Has he fouled out yet? :P

He won't even make the under 16 timeout in Bloomington.

T. Boone Pickens has lots of dump trucks of cash he can back up?

Oladipo is a freak. Didn't expect that kind of start.

Really? Our most critical player is Hammons and the refs took him away. We're already offensively handicapped. We weren't going to win this and we would be losing right now with or without Hammons but him being gone is the reason it's a 20 point game. I'll be happy when he's the one getting the benefit of reputation against IU next year.

Also, I hope Oladipo and Sheehey blow out their knees posing after getting a basket.

Yeah, I didn't expect a 20 point halftime lead. I don't think you did either.

So how many fouls should he have? One was iffy, but 2 were pretty obvious.

One, the second one. The last one was complete horseshit and the first one was ticky tack. Hammons stuffed Zeller twice and was playing really well offensively. He just isn't allowed to touch the pretty boy.
