Probably have to take down two of Illinois, Minnesota or Michigan State at home as they are the only remaining home games against teams that are currently ranked and I doubt they beat a ranked team on the road (though you never know.)

I had that as an Iowa win in my head. They'll definitely need to get a perceived upset or 2 for the tourney bid

 

I had them starting 3-3 with wins @NW and at home vs Wisconsin and MSU. I was just hoping they'd show up and make it a game with IU, and keep it within 10-12 @UM. I'm somewhat impressed with the fact they didn't play their best and still had chances to win.

Why did we stop talking about that hollowell guy? I assume that there are still shoestring colors to be obsessed over.

He played yesterday. Apparently an agent contacted his family and his mother went to IU to report it. They went to the NCAA and sat Hollowell while they investigated.

Purdue is going to have to rebound a ton tonight and hope for a low scoring game. No way we beat Illinois in a shootout. Also, with students still on break and Illini fans fired up about their team, I expect to see more orange than normal in the stands.

Lol, I was just thinking how he probably will do that. But still, you guys will probably just mug us the entire game. To make up for the talent difference.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if Purdue found a way to win this one. Makes me feel a bit dirty just saying that though. Illini by 5.

 

I'm pretty sure we didn't beat a ranked team last year with Hummel, it would definitely be a big win to start the B1G season off for the young guys. That being said, we lost to E. Michigan, and barely beat Ball State and William & Mary. My only guess on why the line is at -2.5 for Illinois is that Purdue has won 7 in a row against IL. Pomeroy has it as a 50/50, I think it's going to be a 5-10 point loss. Upside is a close win, and downside is a 10+ point loss.

I believe Big Ten BB Officials reward the more aggressive team, in order to counter Purdue' mugging the Illini need to take the ball to the hoop and keep doing so, they'll get some calls that way.
