Have to like the positive outcome of winning the Maui classic, I believe bigger and better things are on the horizon for the Illini. Perhaps, not this season but, there's been a change for the good. Groce can and likes to recruit, would Weber been able to land Nunn? The Parker ship sailed long ago for Illinois and I could give a rat's ass about him but, Groce has made progress in Chicago. It's going to pay off in the future, it seems Groce has taken the approach I would have - [expletive] what everyone says. I'm going to recruit Chicago and it's going to work.

No way would weber have landed Nunn. He wasn't a priority for Bruce.

I agree. As much as I wanted Stevens and Shaka, it may have been more because they were the hot names and you wanted them to want to come to your school and not turn you down. When they got groce instead, I started thinking it may have been the better fit in terms of his recruiting ability.

 

Watching the Maui classic was so different than how they have looked in the past few years-- I had started to hate watching them. There was a quote by bilas during the championship game where he said something to the effect of "the illinois players show no fear." I feel like the past 5 years was all about playing scared. I saw a video of Tyler Griffey this morning talking about his 3-pointers in the championship game and he mentioned that he passed a few up early. When he was going back in from a timeout, Coach Ford told him if he hesitated, he was coming out. I really think Griffey needs this kind of approach. Such a different personality for the team this year.

ISU lost to Cincinnati

OU killed by Gonzaga

TCU lost to northwestern

 

I guess three of those teams were ranked, but still not a great showing.

Dixon's been suspended for a month, but none of the Columbia media have any idea that it's about a rape accusation? When the same thing happened to Derrick Washington, everyone knew why he was suspended as soon as it happened. And if the police aren't involved, I'm not sure why he'd be held out pending some sort of Student Board review. Very few details, but I'm having trouble making anything make sense.

He called the student board a joke in a tweet to her, she responded with it isn't a joke I'm the one he raped. Ugly situation. If it isn't true English still made it worse by bringing it to the publics attention.

 

Sounds like they are suspending him because they feel he violated the agreement all students enter into with the university to respect members of the opposite sex.
