After watching Joyce sprain his ankle on a homerun, what would happen if someone did something crazy like tear up a knee on a swing and he couldn't walk?

I see to think that something like that has happened in the past and a pinch runner is allowed.

What if a guy hits a sure double off the wall but breaks his leg coming out of the box? Does he still get 2nd base?

i would guess he wouldn't get jack. he'd be out.

that can't be right, maybe you don't understand. he said it was a SURE double

According to ESPN, he's on pace for 86 HRs and 195 RBIs this year. Unreal to still be on that type of pace in mid-May

I catch myself thinking he's got to beat 61, not 73. And I am not a Bonds hater by any stretch. The record books are just screwed up now, with little hope of that one ever being broken.

At the rate the Nationals are going through catchers, I would try to dangle Soto for Strausberg + Harper. They just might be getting desperate...

Harper hit his first career home run tonight, to dead center.

Say what you will about the Cardinals luck, but how the hell are the Mets as good as they are? They're in 3rd, but they're at .571 WP. These guys have to come crashing down to earth soon, no?

Of course. Even bad teams can play a good half of baseball. Rember what was it...the '03 Royals? Or even the 2010 2nd half Cubs?

The Mets do have some nice arms and IMO the best of the new parks in the sport. Citi Field is fn niiiiice man, definitely going to be a fun place to watch baseball when they don't suck. Awesome FO as well with Alderson and DePodesta headlining. David Wright is back...

This will catch hell but...I'm glad he's recovered so quickly. Thought he'd be down for weeks if not more.

so Cole Hamels hitting Harper had no effect on Harper?

Which proves how stupid it was for Hamels to hit him. If it didn't effect Harper, it's only effect was to put a man on base (who eventually scored, iirc) and got him suspended causing him to lose money and his team to adjust their rotation.

So by hitting Hamels he did nothing but hurt his team and himself, sounds pretty stupid to me.

oh man, Hawk's heartbreak made my day

Sox started the 9th four runs down and after a Valverde blowup (and likely serious arm injury) put the go-ahead run up to bat in the form of Viciedo, who came about two or three feet from an opposite field HR

Everything about you is detestable.

Detestable or intriguing? Seems to me like you can't get enough. You've probably spent more time commenting on my posts than any other poster on this board. Must be the similarities we share like being Grade A douches/losers with dreams of being known as the most alpha poster on a message board. I can't WAIT 'til I my post count is enough that I can drop one judgmental line on a post and walk away with that little tingly feeling I have zero doubts you get (I got em good!).

Derek Lowe pitched a CG shutout today, and didn't record a strikeout.

Lowe improves his ERA to 2.05. That AL I tell you, just so much harder to pitch in.

derek lowe threw a complete game shutout today but had no strikeouts... 22 outs on the ground, including four GIDP. he threw something like 10 changeups and the rest of his 127 pitches were sinkers.

You know he's spent more of his career in the AL than the NL and that he's been a good pitcher for a long time, right? He was an accomplished starter with the Red Sox.

Another transfer, Hiroki Kuroda moved into the AL East and has seen his peripherals drop in quality so far, though his ERA is fine (3.56, career 3.46). I think a move into the AL East is the most dramatic jump for most pitchers.

That was classic.
