Also, I never had it until Chicago banned it but Foie Gras is freaking delicious.

Chicago banned foie gras?!? What is this?

Almost every organ meat is delicious done right. Foie, sweetbreads, kidneys, pates, liver mousse, hog's head cheese...

Briefly, until Hot Doug's told the city to [expletive] off.

It was banned and then un-banned.

City of Chicago: On 26 April 2006, the Chicago City Council voted to ban the sale of foie gras, effective 22 August 2006[63] Breaches of the ban were to be punished with fines of $250–$500.[64] Alderman Joe Moore, who proposed the ban, described the method by which foie gras is produced as "clearly animal cruelty."[64]

In response, several Chicago chefs filed suit and deliberately violated the law by continuing to sell foie gras.[65] Furthermore, a handful of chefs served foie gras without charge, which they considered not to be against the law.[66][67] Even for establishments that were violating the law, the City issued warning letters but, until February 17, 2007, no citations were given. On that date, Doug Sohn, owner of a gourmet hot dog shop was charged with a violation. Although the fine could have been as high as $500, Sohn agreed to pay a $250 fine on March 29.[68][69] Several unusual dishes, including foie gras pizza, have been created in Chicago, in defiance of the City Council's banning of foie gras. 46,000 pounds of foie gras were sold in Chicago in 2006.[64]

In December 2006, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley referred to the ban as "the silliest law" the City Council has ever passed.[69] As a result of the ban, Chicago restaurants Spiaggia and Tru developed dishes designed to simulate the foie gras experience. Chicago Tribune restaurant critic Phil Vettel found Tru's "Faux Gras" "close to the real thing", and Spiaggia's "terrina de fagato grasso vegetariano" "undeniably rich and indulgent", but "[lacking] the characteristic foie-gras intensity".[70]

In response to Mayor Daley's objections on the foie gras ban, the City Council overwhelmingly repealed Chicago's ban on May 14, 2008.[71]

The crueler the meat treatment, the more delicious it is. Pressed duck is a thing of the gods. I have to assume that eating an ortolan is a life-changing experience.

We went to a place called Toup's meatery which is awesome. They have an app that's bone marrow smothered in foie and roasted, then smothered in escargo and served in a lengthwise cut femur bone. It's incredible, but after you're done they bring out a bottle of Jameson and pour you a shot using the bone as a funnel, so you get all the pieces of foie and marrow washed down with the whiskey.

Pure food porn.

Rahm wants to be able to brag about a situation he helped prolong and basically did nothing to help move along. He is the [expletive] worst.

Really? The worst? Whose his competition? You think he's worse than Daley? or any other politician? How about Tunney? Tunney's kinda the worst.

an alderman pales in comparison to the mayor

Well, that's why I needed more information about who the competition was. The worst what? I must debate the semantics of hyperbole!

The worst whatever you want. He is an awful mayor and an awful human being. Tunney sucks, but his power and influence is minuscule. Rahm is further [expletive] a fucked city with his shell game, smoke and mirrors nonsense. He's worse than someone like Daley because he's actively trying to fool people into thinking he's doing a great job and making things worse by trying to hide how he's not. Someone like Daley at least just usually shrugged their shoulders when they fucked up in a "whaddaya gonna do"-kinda way.

Just for how badly he's screwing the schools and the cops Rahm deserves the boot.

Ok. You're a lot closer to it...I could in no way argue with that.

Don't worry banedon, mojo is totally unbiased and has no stake in the game when it comes to Emanuel. He's screwing the cops and teachers by not letting them get whatever they ask for like they have for the previous 50 years

I'm hearing Cubs will make new Wrigley plan available next week. 7 signs, removing part of brick wall--how can Landmarks Com. stand for it?

Don't know who this guy is but Paul Sullivan retweeted him.

If you weren't aware of that, I'm guessing you weren't aware of the other changes?

I mostly haven't read the proposals because I assume they are going to mysteriously refuse to move forward on them or another year or two before changing their minds. I guess I'll go read them now.

The home and visiting bullpens will be relocated from the field to an area under the expanded Budweiser Bleachers, which will enhance player safety during on-field play.

Is this new or did I just miss it before? I understand there is a definite player safety issue and that justifies the change, but as a fan I will miss being able to clearly see who is warming up at any time.

I believe that is new to the most recent proposal, or at the very least it wasn't in the proposal approved last summer. With the new signage/video boards they should be able to pretty easily signify who's warming up, that's how it is in most modern parks.

As I understand what I've read here, they are removing some of the OF wall bricks to make room for the bullpens. I'm assuming this is to put up a gate or fence where you can see them warming up.

Right, you could tell that there's someone warming up, but you'd likely need help to figure out exactly who.

Can't remember where I read it, but apparently the brick they'd be removing would be around one of those doors...just kind of widening that and putting some sort of green see through material there (fencing I guess)

They said the bullpens will be under the Bud Bleachers, so I am assuming that they would be widening the peephole. It would be cool if you could watch relievers warming up from the street too.

They're all the bud bleachers (and actually, the area i think you're talking about is the budweiser patio)

So yeah, I'd assume one bullpen would have the current peephole in RF and then the other would have a new peephole-ish looking thing in left
