Where did the Wrigley renovation thread go?

It's several pages back, without any real updates, as one should expect.

If there's real news in regards to the construction/renovation, trust me, you're not going to miss it.

Take it for whatever it's worth:

I'm hearing negotiations are taking place on a deal that would have Ricketts buy out said building and then turn it into a business/commercial entity for the Chicago Cubs.

This is the development everyone is waiting for. It could not only solve the rooftop battle once and for all, but also allow better placement for the proposed Jumbotron.

In this scenario, Ricketts would eliminate the rooftop business that sits atop the building. The Jumbotron could be moved down Waveland Ave. toward centerfield by about 28 feet. As far as the right-field facet of the rooftops is concerned, there are still some ongoing negotiations regarding the Miller Lite sign.

To have that signage converted into a Budweiser ad will require some concessions from both sides. This new ad would work along with the Cubs new $140 million deal with Bud.

What I'm hearing today is that the Cubs are looking into putting up a Budweiser bottle-type structure on the Sheffield Parkway. For a visual image think the giant Coca Cola bottle in the outfield of AT&T Park in San Francisco.

If true, that means the rooftop being an extra pain in the ass is 1010 Waveland which is a Beyond the Ivy rooftop.

Meanwhile, we can't afford to sign any ballplayers.

Great point. You are an awesome poster.

I was there last summer (not by my choice) and I certainly wouldn't shed a tear to see them gone. Worst money ever spent.

Loxas is very nearly a punchline at this point, but that's always been the rooftop it made the most sense to buy out.

.@Boers_Bernstein hits the air on a snowy Presidents Day. Some #Cubs news for you, and plenty more. Second Half at 3:30, surprises.

With it being Bernstein, I'm assuming the Cubs news will be rooftop related.

I only heard a brief summary but it was something about there being new progress and that both sides were cautiously optimistic that it could get done by the end of either this week or next (I can't remember which they said).

@MLBBruceLevine: Tom Ricketts also said he expects the new Budweiser sign to be up in the outfield by opening day

@MLBBruceLevine Source Cubs new deal with Budweiser is for $10 million a year for the next 14 years. The deal triples what Bud paid in 2013

So....no sign or is this still a possibility? Haven't heard anything about renovations for a month..

Funny you ask about this...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-chicago-cubs-wrigley-field-parking-20140317,0,3358220.story

The Cubs in January had applied to put up a 650-square-foot beer advertising sign in right field, but a permit is no longer being actively sought, Cubs spokesman Julian Green said.

"We're still in talks with Budweiser about the design elements" of the sign, Green said. "It won't be up on Opening Day."

So absolutely nothing was accomplished in the offseason and its now been a year since the Cubs supposed deadline for getting everything approved (Opening day 2013)

Tom ricketts is just going to wander the concourse wearing a signboard

They'll just pull some of these out of storage...

FYI: The Cubs Bud sign delay is for design reasons, doesn't have to do with rooftops. Adding that to my story.
