People are really bashing the halftime show, but I thought Drea de Matteo did a pretty decent job lip syncing all of those terrible songs.

It's a lip sync act. She doesn't really know any different. Suffice it say I'm glad it's not my style of music.

I guess if you like dance routines and pre-recorded music that people pretend to perform, you like this.

It boggles my mind that for the #1 TV sporting event for 18-49 year old men, they keep picking performers that would alienate that audience. Yeah, they've had U2 and Springsteen and Petty, which were okay, but why trot out Madonna or Britney or Janet Jackson? Makes zero sense

I don't understand why this boggles your mind. Think about it. Do you really believe 18-49 year old men are going to abandon the Super Bowl because the halftime act blows chunks?

I really don't care either way re: Ben vs. Eli, but it's not debatable that Eli has more career yards and touchdowns than Ben. Someone claimed that "Ben is better in every category", so I thought it was worth mentioning that he, in fact, is not.

You know what's kinda fun? Watching Boston weep and Boston-based players explaining why they failed.

I genuinely hope for more -- many, many more -- of these moments in the future.

That was the first I thought about when the safety happened - some lucky dude that bet on a safety being the 1st score of the game.

I don't at all agree with the mentality of trying not to score the touchdown. If the snapper or holder or kicker has a few jitters, the game ends in an instant (Romo, Cundiff). 80 yards and 56 seconds is a much better margin of error.

It wasn't lip synced, actually. There was a part where she was dancing around on some faux bleacher things and lost her balance. The lyrics quit as she pulled the mic away to catch her balance. If it was lip synced, then whoever was piping in the lyrics gets a freaking raise for cutting it off at the right moment.

Brady's going to score a TD there with 56 seconds left and 1 timeout maybe 10-20% of the time? I can't imagine teams missing what is an extra point more often that that even with the extra pressure.

Maybe that part wasn't but I think you're the first person in America I've seen suggest that it was not lip synced.

Eli is well on his way to being a hall of famer. Not sure why you nerds are raging.

Do you have Romo in the hall of fame?

Whaaaaa?

He has similar/better stats than Manning.

There's plenty of room between the "rings are what matters" crowd and completely ignoring them in favor of stats. Romo has been on pretty solid teams and has one playoff win in the Wild Card round before getting housed by the Vikings in a game where he had 4 turnovers. Eli has won two Super Bowls and had some pretty big moments. Come on. it's not baseball.

I get how sometimes you have people getting off the field leading to 12 men penalties, but how do you have 12 men in defensive formation twice in a game?

Hell they could have continued doing it on that drive and had it make sense. Put 14 guys out there and give them the 5 yard penalty while the clock runs. The play on that last Giants 12 men on the field penalty took 8 seconds.

I suppose if they thought it was deliberate with like 15 guys they could maybe call a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct.

I think this whole not scoring a TD shows how crappy NFL has become.

I figured it was too up until that moment. Others that I watched with agreed with me, fwiw.

A quick google search shows that there's some debate as to whether or not she lip synced.

Even if she did though, I still enjoyed it. In an atmosphere like that, I understand why they'd lip sync.

Interesting strategy. I know you were saying half in jest but the problems are that eventually they would realize what was going on and start noticing the 12 men before the snap. Even if they didn't the other team could start spiking the ball immediately after the snap to save time. Obviously they wouldn't lose any downs so it's pretty easy to manipulate.

So now we're moving into Broadway Joe territory.

Broadway Joe is in because of one title. You can scoff at any one win Super Bowl QB, but there's very little chance a 2-time winner is going to be kept out especially when he led drives to win both of them at the end of the game. Plunkett is the only one and he's got a journeyman tag on him that prevents it.

If Tony Romo and his team didn't repeatedly crap the bed and underperform, and actually won 2 SB in the past half decade, he'd be well on his way to a Hall of Fame induction as well.
