Schefter saying Wayne is re-signing with the Colts for 3 years.

Reggie Wayne just became maybe my second favorite Colt player ever. To come back to the Colts -- on a reasonable contract -- when they are rebuilding says a whole lot about Wayne. Thanks Reggie.

So, Miami's gotta be out of the Manning sweepstakes, right?

The Denver Post is reporting Manning has narrowed his choices to the Broncos and the Tennessee Titans, with whom he'll visit today.

Dolphins probably miss on Peyton, lose out on Wayne and trade Marshall. There is no way I can be convinced they have any plan whatsoever. Go get Flynn and Manningham now? I guess that's the idea that's about to pop into their heads.

It says his career is winding down and everybody knows it.

No crap; everyone knows that. Wayne is not as good as he used to be, but he is still solid and could really help a good team. But instead of following Manning or whatever, he chose to spend his "winding down" career with a rebuilding team that is going to stink next year (at least). It's hard not to appreciate that.

the Lions have reportedly agreed a seven year extension with WR Calvin Johnson that would keep him in Detroit through 2019.

Adam Schefter ‏ @AdamSchefter

Filed to ESPN: Lions reached agreement with WR Calvin Johnson on a seven-year, $132 million extension that includes $60 million guaranteed.

that's actually pretty team-friendly too, awesome

It's the richest contract ever handed out in the NFL, per Schefter, at $18.857 million per year, so I'm not sure how that's team-friendly.

his cap hit was already in the area of $22M, and was eligible for a $27M franchise tag next year; we didn't really have much leverage if he were to play hardball

this gives us much more cap space now

edit: Kevin Seifert summed it up perfectly, the tremendous bind we were put in:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/37302/digging-deeper-into-calvin-johnsons-future

But in Johnson's case, it would require monstrous single-season salaries that would actually make the Lions' cap situation worse.

Under the NFL's new collective bargaining agreement (CBA), the franchise tag figure for a player is determined by the higher of the following two values:

• The average of the five highest salary cap figures at the player's position over the past five years

• A figure equal to 120 percent of his prior year's cap number.

Johnson's $22 million cap figure for 2012 is much higher than the projected franchise tag number for receivers. So the alternative to signing Johnson to a long-term deal would be letting him play out the final year of his current contract in 2012 and then franchising him at $26.4 million in 2013. Without a deal at that point, Johnson's franchise tag would rise to $31.7 million for 2014 and would account for perhaps 25 percent of the Lions' total cap structure.

That nuance shifts extraordinary leverage to Johnson in any negotiations that might occur over the next few months. If he does absolutely nothing, the Lions would be required to pay him about $77 million -- and substantially limit their cap flexibility -- to keep him on their roster for the next three seasons.

so..the Lions are paying CJ $18.5 mil a year, and the Bears are paying BM $10 mil a year.

What are the Packers paying their WR's? do we have the highest WR salaried division in the NFL now?

Colts acquire Winston Justice from Eagles and apparently just swapped 6th round picks to do it. Is there something about Justice I don't know that makes this a bad trade for Indy?

Cowboys sign Brandon Carr - 5 years/$50 million

Jarrett Johnson to SD and Cory Redding to Indy. Good to see the Raven defense breaking up a bit.

The Eagles sign the most overrated WR in football and one of the most overrated players in the game for that matter..5 years 51 million.
