That Johnson-Delk trade made me look up that year to check out that team. Is this the worst team to ever make a conference finals?

Paul Pierce was so damn amazing in his prime and it was completely wasted.

Was there ever a more high volume shooter that made fewer shots than Antoine Walker? I mean, dude shot 39% for the season.

That Knicks team that made the Finals sucked also, but that was in a strike year.

I feel like you could hand pick a good chunk of ECF participants from the early 2000's to give this award to.

Whoa. That Knicks team was sick. LJ, Spree, Houston, Camby, Charlie Ward and Big Sexy. And Ewing played most of those playoffs. The game after ewing went down; the larry johnson 4 point play followed by the LJ symbol and then delivered the takbir to a terrified jim grey was one of the best moments in NBA history.

I hate the knicks but I liked that team because of Camby, Ward, Spree and Johnson.

The team Lebron brought to the finals as a 21 year old was absolutely pathetic.

I'm sure the Nets teams in the early 2000's were good, but that concept doesn't really compute in my brain

They were good relative to the Eastern conference at the time. If you look at their roster though, I wonder what type of seed they would have had if that same team played this year.

Damn OKC put up 72 in the first half against Boston

Can't judge by this game, though, since Boston's missing their best player.

That should give you the list of guys who had more than 20 attempts/game and shot less then 40%... Only happened 18 times in NBA history and Walker is 14th on that list (unless you bump it up to 1980-now, then he's 4th...) Joe Fulks is the winner though. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/f/fulksjo01.html

When was the three point line put in? Guys who put up percentages below 40% in the pre-three era's have to be considered even worse than guys who put up such bad percentages with the three since there was little incentive to ever shoot that far outside before the 3 was put in place.

Doesn't really matter on that list cuz nobody made that list from 1961-1989 (3 pts happened in that time frame)... So it's like half and half on that list.

You'll notice he wasn't getting to the free throw line either.

I want to say missed shots that resulted in free throws still counted as FGA back then, but I may have pulled that out my ass. But how else does a guy shoot 26% on the year...and make the hall of fame??

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIL/2001.html I can't compute Milwaukee being in the ECF as recently as 12 years ago.

Yeah, well as fun as it is to see Scott Williams, starting PF, the Celtics 4th leading scorer was Erick Strickland, who I forgot existed until I read his name. And I'm sure none of you ever knew he existed.

I wonder if some of the teams that made the conference finals during that time period would miss the playoffs nowadays. It's hard for me to say because most of those (if not all, I haven't really checked so I'm talking out of my ass) won 50+ games. Which is a decent accomplishment, however the conference was so watered down and bad it's hard to say if that means anything.

[expletive], they were mismanaged once Bird decided he was done.

Drafted Jon Barry in the 1st round (21st pick) of the 1992 NBA Draft.

Traded Jon Barry and a 1995 2nd round draft pick (Eric Snow) to the Milwaukee Bucks for Alaa Abdelnaby.

Drafted Acie Earl in the 1st round (19th pick) of the 1993 NBA Draft.

Drafted Eric Montross in the 1st round (9th pick) of the 1994 NBA Draft.

Signed Dominique Wilkins as an unrestricted free agent.

Signed Pervis Ellison as an unrestricted free agent.

Drafted Eric Williams in the 1st round (14th pick) of the 1995 NBA Draft.

I think everyone kinda wonders what the Celtics would be like in the early 90s if Len Bias didn't literally party his life away.

Or if Reggie Lewis didn't have that heart defect although that was getting into mid 90s when that happened...

that's why I hate the Jerrys so much. They could have got one more title shot, you don't pass those up.

Im not endorsing the breakup, but I dont think even a Jordan/Pippen bulls was gonna stop that Spur squad. They rolled through the playoffs like it was nothing.

Would've been fun to see.

It's hard to say, prolly not. But why in the hell wouldn't you take that shot?

They had a ton going on inside. They also buried a pretty damn good laker team in the playoffs. Prime Shaq, prime Glen Rice, emerging kobe, and solid rotation guys Rick Fox, fisher, big shot bob and some others i think.

Rodman woulda been like 40 that year, and the Bulls were having tougher and toufher times in the postseason. Maybe Jordan/Pippen had the magic for one more, but i dont think so.

Pippen's rocket team was dismantled by LA that year.
