Which makes me think of those Kings teams that were so good but never got a ring. They got completely jobbed out of one, and got knocked out in 7 games the other two years that core was intact. They were awesome. Webber was dominant. Mighty Mouse was great, peja, vlade, hedo, bobby jackson, doug christie. That team was stacked.

I'm still not all the way back as an NBA fan because of the blatant screwjob that cost that team a title.

I was not paying much attention at all to the NBA during that time....can you explain how they were jobbed?

Google 2002 WCF Game 6. It was blatant and horrendous.

That Game 6 is one of the main reasons I hate the Lakers.

Thanks. I'll have to check some of the videos later, as it's tough to gauge from just descriptions.

Most people think Dick Baveta cooked the game for stern. And i forget his his name, but the nba ref who got caught fixing spreads, said a message came from stern to make sure the series got to a game seven. I dont know if that is all true or if it was just a horrendously officiated game.

Lakers got whistles they had zero business getting. All sacto big men were in foul trouble by the third quarter, not just on Shaq power moves but on stuff like run through screens, moving pics, offensive fouls; stuff like that. The lake show shot like 25 fourth quarter free throws. Bill walton was memorably pretty critical of the officiating.

Fix or no fix, Sac deserved the series and the whistle cost them.

Yeah, well as fun as it is to see Scott Williams, starting PF, the Celtics 4th leading scorer was Erick Strickland, who I forgot existed until I read his name. And I'm sure none of you ever knew he existed.

I lived near Boston at the time and watched the Celtics a bit back then because the Bulls were awful and never on TV and the Celtics had a likable team. As much as Toine sucked, he was an entertaining player with the shimmy. Walter McCartey was Tommy's role player du jour. Pierce was an emerging superstar. And with the East being absolutely pathetic, it seemed possible that the Celtics could get to the Finals.

That 20+ point comeback against the Nets in the ECF was pure awesome, except for the fact that it was their only win of the series.

No sense in playing the rest of the season. Might as well just hand the title to the Lakers with that signing.

So apparently the Lakers are addressing their lack of athleticism, youth, and speed on the perimeter by signing Rasheed Wallace.

In signing this lazy jump shooting PF, they no longer have to trade Gasol for Boozer and Watson.

Has the whole world gone crazy? After singlehandedly bringing the East back into the game, Lebron passing to Deron for a wide open 3 is a problem? People are idiots.

You don't get why the world mercilessly attacks LeBron for everything he does or doesn't do? Just sit back and enjoy the hate, regardless of whether it's deserved.

PS people have been ripping on him for passing the ball in key situations since he entered the league. Of course its a little different when you are passing to Deron Williams instead of Boobie Gibson.

Or Brian Scalabrine.

And Rose got his fair share of criticism for that as well.

If you pass to a guy (kerr) and he hits it you are an unselfish genius (jordan), if he misses (Boobie) you are afraid (Lebron). I guess we just have to live with idiots in control of the narrative. Ive seen Kobe take so many horrendous end of game shots and yet... I guess whatever.

There's also a huge difference between passing to a guy like Kerr who was consistently among the top 3 pt. % shooters in the NBA every year and a guy like Boobie Gibson, who's kind of just a guy.

Passing to Steve Kerr, 45% 3 point shooter: No brainer, he's a great shooter

Passing to Boobie Gibson, 42% 3 point shooter: What are you doing? He's just a guy.

In all seriousness, it's also who was doing the passing. Jordan had 4 rings before he passed to Kerr for the game winner. He'd built up just a bit of fan trust/goodwill by then.

There's a belief out there that Lebron can't deliver at the end of games. There was never that belief with MJ.

Steve Kerr was an established shooter that had hit clutch shots before. Gibson I believe was an 2nd round rookie.

Does it make a difference? Maybe, maybe not.

Lebron was 20 and had carried a collection of mediocre role players to the finals. This is basketball, plays are set up to have other options and it was nice that Jordan had the luxury of having his 7th/8th man be one of the best shooters ever whereas Lebron had Boobie wide open on the baseline. Remember when MJ dropped 55 at the garden, he passed the game winner to Bill Wennington, definately just a guy. I understand most people arent smart enough for perspective, and most others are usually too emotional with respect to lebron for some reason to even try.

The knocks against him are he passed (at 20) to boobie gibson in a finals they were never gonna win, he gave up on the Cavs in that boston game (where he had a triple double with 30 points and 20 boards), and he passed at the end of an all star game.
