Well the clock should've stopped to begin with. I think the announcers missed that it was ruled a catch on the field.

Yup. I don't think most coaches would have thought about that since the result of the play was so similar (completed pass vs penalty to the same spot).

Every time someone goes for 2 before the final 7 minutes of the 4th quarter, it befuddles me. It seems like every single time they end up in a situation later where that costs them.
