Always liked Dale. Hope he is liked in Chicago. As a hitting coach he really emphasized taking pitches and going the other way with it FWIW.

His best friend is Robin Yount, hopefully he doesn't bring him in as a bench coach because that would suck hard to see that.

I'd LOVE to have that.

I'm just on the Theo magic carpet ride at this point.

Sveum? Whatever else? Bring it!

Heck, we bought into the whole experience, right? Just have to trust the brain crew at this point, see where it all leads.

I think Robin has a lot of other interests at this point (largely motor sports) but I would be thrilled to have him on board. Would it make you feel any better to know that I grew up in WI and the Brewers were my favorite AL team throughout the Yount years? Probably not.

I posted an article on the front page where I explored the walk rates for several of the brewers hitters under Sveum. There's certainly good news there as it backs up ElCaballo's anecdotal claim of an emphasis on controlling the zone.

Tim, I have appreciated the site for years, but you have been truly killing it as of late.

Great stuff.

Me too! For selfish reasons though lol. I'm a Yount myself. He is my cousin or something like that. But I've always respected him as a player and coach, not just because of the name on his jersey. But the poster above is correct. He is very busy with his motorsports team and Robin-ade. Although I would love to have him on the Cubbies staff if he had the time!

On my phone so not gonna go copy/paste etc...but in 1 of the articles on the Trib site its mentioned that Yount is likely to be asked to cone aboard as a coach in some fasion. Also mentioned that Sveum and Listache have been friends for 20 years so Id imagine he stays too.

Very well done Tim. I liked the item about Braun not entering the league as a selective hitter, but becoming one under Sveum. I sincerely hope that something similar to that can happen with Castro, Vitters, Castillo, Jackson. We need to make "Own the Zone" into the kind of gimmicky song that Cubs fans seem to love.

If Swame can turn Jackson into a selective hitter then he deserves HOF

???

I could see the other three, but Jackson? He's had much better walk rates than the others. He does strike out more than I'd like, but he walks a bunch also. It's not like he has Vitters' 3:1 K:BB ratio. I'm not saying he doesn't have work to do, just he's not the one I'd pick out of the listed group.

I would say Sveum deserves the HoF if he makes Vitters into a selective hitter.

I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm

Anyone know if any local stations will have audio of the press conference?

And Junior Lake probably edges out Vitters as our least selective prospect at the plate.

WGN radio is carrying the audio. CSN will televise both online and network.

WSCR usually carries the press conferences.
