Let's be honest about this: The Cubs are not gonna contend in 2012

you reading this ssr?

He should stick to getting me free money from government grants.

That's really funny!

whatever happened to Matthew Lesko?

You know, I thought that was the reference, but wasn't quite sure.

Sosh posters are saying Dale is wavin Wendell part deux.

So, what, he's going to flip out and leap out of the dugout and start waving guys home?

haha how hilarious is it that there are people in this world who actually think that someone's message board reputation is cause for deep, serious concern as to their suitability for an entirely different job.

"SOME PERSON I DON'T KNOW AND OF SUSPECT OBSERVATIONAL SKILLS SAYS YOU WERE BAD AS A GARDENER SO I'M NOT GOING TO HIRE YOU TO FLY MY AIRPLANE"

though i guess they are similar in that they both wear baseball uniforms

Noted wordsmith Phil Rogers proposes the Red Sox "get back" at the Cubs by hiring Ryno.

gotta love a writer willing to parlay his total lack of inside access by throwing out ridiculous, improbable scenarios like this and "the cubs should get the entirely unappealing assistant gm of the white sox"

I'm hoping we get some word tomorrow on the fate of the holdover staff. Riggins is likely the only sure thing to be gone and getting a top notch pitching coach may be just as important or more so than the right manager. Any idea who some possible candidates are. I'm putting my bets on someone with a Boston connection.

So anyone know of some really good pitching coaches who might be realistically available?

What's Leo Mazzone up to?

He said GOOD pitching coaches.

Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz's coattails retired with them.

I wasn't actually suggesting the Cubs pull a guy out of retirement after four seasons away. I'll be sure to use the green text next time.

Matthew Lesko lives in Silver Spring, MD. I ran across him at 9 AM in a Starbucks.

He was wearing the question mark suit.

My friends and I later saw him at the frozen yogurt place. Independent verification. He got into his question mark covered Volkswagen Bug and drove off. Incidentally, he sells his books from a stack in his passenger seat.

Sports radio in Atlanta. Really wants to be a pitching coach again.

Maddux was my first choice, but Sveum is alright. I'm willing to give him a chance and welcome him with open arms. But check it.

<---- Now he looks like Maddux. hehe.
