Supposedly UCLA's AD is going with a contingent that includes Troy Aikman and Cade McNown to Boise to visit Chris Petersen after Boise State's game against New Mexico. Last time UCLA had an opening, Petersen told UCLA not to even fly out to Boise so I suppose this is progress.

 

Did I hear Petersen's son's primary doc joined the ucla med center? Maybe he's more open now.

 

Correct, and UCLA's Med Center is one of the top at treating the type of cancer that his son has or had.

 

Also, Cade McNown apparently found God, has stopped being a dick and parking in handicapped spots and has become a respectable alumni.

Leach isn't an option at UCLA. He's too "out there" for the current admin.

Looking more and more like Alabama DC Kirby Smart will be the next Ole Miss coach. I'd absolutely prefer Leach, but I guess the goons in charge think he is too much of a space cadet, because they say he isn't even being considered. My worry with someone like Smart is that he is going to try to play BAMA style football when he plays LSU or BAMA. If Ole Miss does that they are going to lose 99 times out of 100. A school like Ole Miss almost needs to have a gimmick to really compete against those guys and Leach would have brought that. But whatever.

Leach would be good for you guys or any team on your level in another conference, but I'd think if you can land a guy like Smart, that's pretty solid. Just because he's Bama's DC doesn't mean he's necessarily going to try to outmuscle them.

Your concerns might be valid but I think Smart would be a great hire.
