I'm OK with Sumlin, just not happy with the way this was handled. Sherman had a really good recruiting class committed. Sumlin should be able to keep that intact and maybe add a UH recruit or two. Anxious to see who is on his staff.

Mora to UCLA. Sumlin to A&M. I think that's a good hire for A&M, not so much for UCLA.

That's a polite way to put it. Thankfully there will be a new AD when Mora is let go in 4 years.

I do not follow the NFL that much. Why is Mora Jr a bad hire? Is it just because he was not good at the NFL level or is there some other thinking? Was it just not a sexy enough hire? I can think of a couple of coaches who flopped at the NFL level who were good college coaches. I am not saying that Mora will succeed but I am not sure what the thought process is that he will be unsuccessful.

I'm not intimately familiar with Mora Jr, but lack of success in the NFL + lack of CFB experience is probably a big chunk of it.

Correct. Since UCLA was finally opening up the checkbook, I really wanted a coach with good CFB experience.

Sure is nice of the NCAA to bring the hammer down on OSU by letting one set of coaches coach and Urbie and a second set of coaches recruit. Seems to be really hurting the program.

Yep, he's already locked down a few recruits including a 4-star that switched from MSU. OSU also must be getting just a slap on the wrist for Tatgate and the Pryor stuff with Urban taking over so quickly and recruits willing to commit without finding out the penalties.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, either. ASU was willing to pay Freeze $500k to keep him from going to Ole Miss. Malzahn made 1.3 mil as OC for Auburn. Either he took a huge pay cut, or they really extended their budgets to get him.

Still a big paycut. Maybe Gus just wants to be able to start head coaching in a low-pressure environment where he already has some recruiting pull?

Todd Graham bolts Pitt for ASU, tells his players in a text message. How nice.

If we have not learned anything, it is that college coaching has low ethical standards

Told his director of football operations in a text message and told him to show the players. This guy is Houston Nutt if Houston Nutt were worse at coaching.

Eh, wasn't he like the 3rd fallback hire after their initial choices blew up in their faces? And the program is in complete limbo with all the conference nonsense. I don't have a problem with him turning around and leaving after 1 year, and I'm also a little hesistant to believe initial stories about how it was done. It either comes from emotional football players or administrators that have a tendency to paint the departing in a bad light before welcoming in the new guy.

It's his 4th head coaching job in 6 years. There was also a story that he was waxing poetic about the meaning of the word commitment at an event yesterday.
