This would make my year. Not going to happen though.

ah, i was wondering when stoops would be linked to an open job. was getting nervous it wasnt going to happen this offseason

Me too. This is the first time I've heard of Stoops to Penn State.

stoops has had other opportunities to leave oklahoma for high-profile coaching gigs; i'm pretty sure he's not leaving for a school that is recovering from a pedophile scandal.

Stoops does enjoy a bag of dicks on a regular basis, so there is a chance.

Also something is going on at OU right now, seems to be a lot of eternal fighting within the staff and a lot of unhappy players. I still don't think there is a chance of Stoops leaving for any other program, but who know's exactly what's going on there.

I'm going to play my role around here, and enjoy doing it. Jon Gruden to Penn State.

Hmmmmm, that's odd, why would somebody edit their post 3 days after posting it. Wait a minute...didn't that used to say Chris Petersen!!!

ETA: Hmmmmm, and edited the same day this story was published:

That's probably not going to end anytime soon.

i'm going to make a bold prediction and say that ____________ will be the next penn state coach

(will edit the blank space above when it becomes obvious who the actual hire will be, thereby making me look like a genius for posting the name of the new coach well before he was hired)

my penn state friend who mentioned the stoops thing emailed me today to tell me the new rumor is that penn state is going to give nick saban 60% more than any other college coach and pry him away from alabama. he thinks this one is pretty unlikely though.

where on earth is your friend getting this crap? yeah i'm sure a school that has everyone questioning its integrity is going to throw several million dollars a year at nick saban.

Putting several words in bold isn't an explanation.

Come on, man. You know what he's trying to say. PSU is going through a major scandal and hiring a coach like Nick Saban, who's looked at like the devil by everyone except Alabama fans, is probably not a good idea for PSU right now.

Right. PSU is too good for Saban.

Not really. PSU cannot afford the public perception problems that they're once again putting football ahead of ethics if they hired somebody like Saban. He's just not the right fit for them at this time with their public image so fragile. That doesn't mean they're too good for him, or that they wouldn't love to hire someone like him at another time.

Saban is looked at like the devil because he's jumped from program to program, not because he allowed an assistant coach to use the facilities to recruit rape victims. The public perception problems at PSU aren't going to be fixed by hiring some no name guy who will always toe the line. I don't see how these things are related.
