It only makes sense to let the team in that has sucked for a month and is missing key components to injuries as opposed to the one that has been hot. If the decision was based on their "rivalry," then Manuel really is an idiot.

Oh, come on. If a team can keep a division rival out that's what they're going to play for. "Hot" teams stumble all the time in the playoffs, just like everyone else, so it's ridiculous to expect teams to act like the people here who just assume the Cardinals always win.

i would go bonds (steroids made him super-human; hard to say how amazing he would've been without them) and pedro-in-his-prime over pujols, but that's about it.

 

i desperately and irrationally want the cubs to sign him.... I don't quite understand why some people have said a playoff run would increase the chances of Pujols staying in STL. A WS title and big series from Albert would increase the chances of him leaving, IMO.

 

Big performance, not leaving on a bad note, no "unfinished business", etc.

 

If one of the big market teams decides they like what they're seeing and want him, the Cardinals will lose him.
