No doubt. I think his infraction was worth about 3 smashings, definitely not a whole page or so. I think he's off the hook now.

"You can't replace a guy like that. You can't find a guy like that in the league," Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said. "He's the heart and soul of this organization. We all know he's going through a tough time right now. But we're going to respect his privacy. And when he gets back, we'll be here for him."

There was a poster named Banedon on PFT who posted in the comments section asking why Tom Brady wasn't considered in the NFC players of the week article. Know him?

Heh...found this on a Saints forum. This is the final play at the GB goalline. That guy all the way on the left is Kreutz. Gonna be interesting to see what Melton can do against him...

In comparably unimportant Urlacher news, he was named NFC player of the week today.

What am I missing in your sig?

I think it's a joke Re: WSR's infatuation with LaHair.

Yeah, for a run up the middle at the goal line, that's probably about the last place, other than maybe the hot dog stand, you want to see your center at the end of the play. Glad he's gone.

Haha bill simmons picks the bears over the saints straight up as his upset pick.

Talking about the Jets at the beginning of the podcast. "You can ride luck for 3-4 months, but not a whole season."

Not trying to derail the thread, but is Urlacher Hall of Fame material?

I think he is, but he's gonna need a few more pro bowls (may not get that) and a bit more hype in his later career. I don't think the rest of the county hears as much about Urlacher after his first few years where he came out and was instantly one of the best linebackers in the league. He's had a quiet last 5 or so years since his DPOY.

A Superbowl victory will help his case, certainly. :-"

One thing that could help Urlacher in a HOF bid is how much he changed the idea on what a MLB was. Yes there were certainly athletic MLB before, but he brought it to a whole new level.

WHAAA???

Yeah, a ring would probably seal it for him. But I also think he gets in if he has about 3-4 healthy seasons playing at a high level. I think his career intertwining with Ray Lewis may hurt him a bit, as Urlacher is not even the "standard bearer" (no pun intended) at his position for his generation. But I think the numbers are there. The injuries are overblown as he's only missed games in 2 seperate seasons, 5 years apart. But perception is what it is. If he can play at a high level until 36 like Lewis, I think he has to get in. NOt going to be a first ballot guy, but shouldn't take long if that's the case.

BradBiggs Brad Biggs

The situation is very delicate, obviously, but I am told Brian Urlacher plans on playing for #Bears Sunday at #Saints

I'm sure he'll welcome anything to help get his mind focused elsewhere even if it's only for a few short hours.

Even though undrafted rookie Dom DeCicco is listed behind Brian Urlacher on the depth chart, the contingency plan if the Pro Bowler isn't available Sunday after the death of his mother is for Nick Roach to play middle linebacker with Brian Iwuh replacing him on the strong side.

Brian Urlacher will make the HOF. I don't think its as much of a question mark as you guys are making it.

Yeah, it's pretty much a lock. Probably first ballot too. Playing in a huge media market with a strong fanbase and rich history doesn't hurt him either. He's been pretty much the 2nd best inside linebacker in the league for over 10 years (first Lewis, now Willis).
