I do wonder, and I'm sure it will be asked, what the Bears are doing to mask all the knowledge Kreutz has of the offense, stuff like check-downs, protections, audibles, etc etc.

Kreutz wasn't just another lineman, he was pretty much the co-captain of the offense and although he only played 1 year in the Martz sceme, I'm sure he is able to articulate the offense they ran last year pretty well.

Have the Bears seriously not won in the Superdome since Super Bowl XX? That seems wrong, but they mentioned it on sports radio this morning.

EDIT: This is apparently true. They won "at" New Orleans in 2005, but they actually played them in Detroit because of Hurricane Katrina. Through other odd schedule quirks (a ton of the games against NO were at home) and the Bears being just plain bad, they haven't won at the Superdome since January of 1986 in Super Bowl XX. They haven't beaten the Saints at the Superdome since 1975.

That meathead knows two things, hit the other guy, and then hit him again. Film will tell the coaching staff all of that stuff. Teams change up audibles all the time. He may be able to give them some knowledge they wouldn't otherwise have, but it probably won't be much of a difference.

Detroit? Where did you get that from? They played in Baton Rouge.

I saw "Tiger Stadium" and instinctively thought Detroit. Baton Rouge makes a ton more sense.

That is not correct. The Bears beat the Saints at the Superdome back in the early 90's when Harbaugh was quarterback. I remember that game because Harbaugh was getting killed by the Saints defense all day long but somehow put together a game winning TD drive at the end.

So you thought they played on a baseball field that no longer exists? :)

If memory serves the field conditions sucked and Benson had a pretty good game.

I remember that game. Jones and Benson were out so Adrian Peterson was the starting RB and I believe reached over 100 yards rushing in the game. It was a close game throughout which was a bit disappointing because the Saints were awful all year, and young Robbie Gould, in maybe his 3rd or 4th game as a Bear kicked the GW FG to win...I think 20-17.

That doesn't count. The Bears got lucky and recovered two fumbles. Therefore, the win doesn't count.

I remember that game as well. I thought that Harbaugh might die in that game.

Since I like trivia...

In today's FO Quick Reads column, they mentioned that Cam Newton's performance was the 11th best performance by DYAR of any rookie QB (not alll in their first game). They list the top 10 performances by DYAR for rookie QBs. Anyone care to guess who was responsible for them?

Hints: All of them have happened since 1994, and one person was responsible for two of them.

Grossman and Romo

Grossman as a rookie played in like 3 games at the end of the year. I think he did have one decent game though. Not sure it makes the cut though.

Stabs in the dark:

P. Manning, E. Manning, Matt Ryan, Tebow, Cutler, Vick, V. Young, Roethlisberger, Flacco

Peyton 6th, Eli 9th, Ryan 2nd and 5th, Roethlisberger 10th.

So here's the list so far:

1. ?

2. Ryan 191

3. ?

4. ?

5. Ryan 170

6. Peyton 169

7. ?

8. ?

9. Eli 161

10. Big Ben 156

11. Newton 150

The rest of the names are the hard ones. Only two are on a 2011 roster (and both on the same roster, oddly enough).

Negative on Grossman and Romo.

Man, Romo had a 5-0 TD-INT game his first year. Let me put on my thinking cap.

No on Bulger, Schaub and Leinart.

Here are the years as more hints:

1. ? 197 (1999)

2. Ryan 191

3. ? 178 (1998)

4. ? 174 (2003)

5. Ryan 170

6. Peyton 169

7. ? 165 (1994)

8. ? 162 (1998)

9. Eli 161

10. Big Ben 156

11. Newton 150
