What is going on with Iowa running backs?!?! Iowa loses another RB for the season after freshman Mika'il McCall goes down with a broken ankle. Iowa is going to have to have public tryouts pretty soon. Really strange and unfortunate to see so many issues with RB's on one team.

An Iowa blog has dubbed it the doings of the AIRBHG (Angry Iowa Running Back Hating God). Here's a quick rundown:

2002:

1) Aaron Greving, the projected starter is injured in fall and spring and abruptly quits mid way through the season.

2) Justice Hariston fails to qualify, goes to prep school and then to Purdue where he has a decent, injury free, career.

2003:

1) Superstud Jermelle Lewis tears ACL and misses first half of season and is not the same.

2) Promising frosh Albert Young breaks leg. Out for year.

3) AJ Johnson lasts a semester before getting kicked out.

2004:

1) Shonn Greene fails to qualify out of high school

2) Fred Russell leaves early

3) Lewis tears other ACL

4) Albert Young tears ACL misses second full season.

5) Marcus Schnoor tears ACL

6) I think Champ Davis tears an ACL at some point as well.

2005:

1) Ferentz tricks the Angry Iowa-Running-Back-Hating-God by briefly moving Damian Sims to corner. Sims is the only scholarship RB to go four years without a major injury.

2006:

1) Kalvin Bailey - flunked out after one year

2) Corey Robertson - flunked out after one year

2007:

1) Shonn Greene ineligible

2) Dana Brown - beats up girlfriend and gets the boot during the great purge of '07

2008:

1) Jevon Pugh - left school after one year

2) Jeff Brinson - injured and redshirts

3) Nate Guillory - leaves in fall camp

4) Paki #2 on depth chart throughout season

2009:

1) Shonn Greene leaves early

2) Jewel Hampton tears ACL in fall camp

3) Brinson still injured has one carry

4) Adam Robinson and Brandon Wegher do a nice job but usually one or both is at least hobbled

5) Paki again a staple on depth chart

2010:

1) Brinson leaves before spring ball

2) Wegher - slips one past the goalies

3) Coker - breaks collarbone before pads are even on

4) Hampton - torn ACL by game three, transfers prior to bowl

5) Robinson - concussions, then academics, not in good standing

6) Paki apparently also injured.

2011:

1) 4-star RB Rodney Coe does not qualify

2) McCall gets injured for the year in the 1st quarter of the opener after a promising camp and start.

So um...Michigan wins

The game was called with 1 minute or so left in the 3rd quarter. I can't say I've ever seen a football game called due to weather.

Sucks for people who bet Michigan to cover the absurdly low 10.5 line when it needs to go 55 minutes to get action.

[expletive] you bodog.

Wow, these Georgia uniforms are a travesty.

Disagree. They're wonderful. Helmets are ugly, but uniforms are great.

BTW, IU is going to lose to freaking Ball State.

Can we just not talk about that?

6 weeks until Hoosier Hysteria...

Yes, Indiana basketball has certainly been a pick-me-up the past few years.

You're late. I was wondering where you'd been.

I have a bad feeling we're going to get smashed by Northern Illinois next week. They were pretty good last year and return a lot of their starters.

Coach Kill is a Gopher now, you'll be fine.

Dave Doeren knows what he's doing. And they smoked Army this week. They're favored by a touchdown over us. I think we'll have to play very well to win.

A fan in the stands was struck by lightning during one of the delays in the West Virginia-Marshall game. The first delay was for about three hours, followed by about five minutes of game action (and another WVU touchdown), followed by another delay of over an hour. The teams then agreed to call it a game, and WVU won 34-13.

Hey hawkeye, Jewel Hampton had 3 TD's for us yesterday against an FCS team that made the playoffs last year. Hopefully his knee doesn't fall off yet again.

And I'd be surprised if Kansas beat NIU next week. I don't see how Kansas is going to stop Harnish and that offense next week. They looked like they were in midseason form yesterday with a new coach and offense yesterday. Granted, it was only Army but that game was an absolute blowout until Army put up three garbage time TD's.

He's really good. If healthy he should be a beast at that level.

West Virginia officials are denying that this happened.

Maryland's unis. It's like watching a different teams every time a player turns the other direction. Edited by CubInOK

I obviously meant post-MVC expansion*. Try to keep up snood.

*Necessary after the Big 10 picks up Drake and Evansville in the next round of realignments.

Iowa State will be looking for a conference too. I don't think the MVC would take them though... :bye:

The Maryland uni's are based on the state flag....

Not that that makes them less hideous.
