Eh it's prolly not that big of a deal, just pisses me off the Lakers always step in and snatch the big names from other teams for what amounts to crap. Not sure how people can find that super interesting.

When have they actually done that? Just with Gasol, and that was a special case since Jerry West was in Memphis.

Why are people STILL saying this? West wasn't the GM in Memphis when the trade happened. And Memphis didn't get screwed at all. They were terrible and paying Pau a ton of money. By trading him, they got essentially got Mark Gasol, 3 first rounders, and 25 million in cap space in that deal, which led directly to them being the competitive team that they are now.

I didn't say he was the gm, i said he was there. But maybe that's wrong too, i don't know.

And I didn't say they got ripped off, it ended up being a good deal for them. I just knew he was talking about the Gasol thing.

Free agent forward Shane Battier, whom the Bulls showed minor interest in, posted on his Twitter account that he plans to sign with the Miami Heat on Friday.

Winter meetings over, but NBA fun just about to begin. All CBA points have been agreed on and they are voting now.

If the deal is ratified by a majority on both sides, free agency and training camps will open Friday.

Caron Butler agrees to a 3/$24M deal with the Clippers.

Huh. I wonder if he changed his mind about wanting to play for the Bulls, or if they didn't want him?

That is a lot of money for Caron Butler, so my thought is that the Clippers just blew him out of the water with an offer.

Well the Bulls could only offer $5 mil so he must have took the money.

I kept thinking that Caron was being courted to replace a traded Deng rather than the 2 guard. Although it seems that deal will help set the market for FA wings. Gonna be hard to convince Richardson to accept the $5 million MLE I would think.

if bynum+stuff goes in a deal for Howard, i vote to reinstate the lockout

This.

God I'm tired of the [expletive] Lakers.

Odom to the Hornets, Gasol to the Rockets. Hornets to receive either Luis Scola or Kevin Martin as well as draft picks.

This better be followed by a Howard deal, otherwise I don't like giving up both Gasol and Odom.

What are the Lakers options and resources for filling out the rest of the roster?

I dunno, CP3/Kobe/Bynum + crap doesn't scare me all that much. That's 3 sets of questionable knees to depend on.

Geez, you know the Lakers are sending Bynum and trash for Howard. Oh well, it's the lesser of 2 evils as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather see them dominate than the Heat.

Yeah, what a shitty deal for the Lakers. All they got was Paul and didn't even get to take on any shitty contracts. Damn.

Yeah, the Lakers probably already have the Bynum for Howard deal on standby. How is that the best offer out there for Paul? And how exactly do the Rockets improve from that deal?
Posted
This is really frustrating, because the ONLY way I can see the Bulls winning a title now is if they find a way to add a truly legitimate 2nd scorer. Almost has to be a 2 or a 3, but if they don't find that somehow, we're destined to be the Cavaliers or Knicks of the 90's. Jason Richardson ain't getting it done.

I don't think it's a terrible deal, I just don't think it's a great deal either. I look at it - this deal on its own, not together with the hypothetical Howard trade - as more of a lateral move. I also don't see what terrible contracts have to with anything. They gave up two very good players and got one great player but didn't get rid of any terrible contracts themselves.

Yes, the jump from Fisher/Blake to Paul is a massive one. But who is going to be the power forward? Who is going to be the first guy off the bench? Those are two massive dropoffs also. Also, what are they going to do in the middle when Bynum inevitably gets hurt and misses 15-20 games?
