So...they're starting Billups as the SG then?

and Bledsoe and Mo Williams. I guess those are good insurance policies to have on Paul's knee when it inevitably goes out. And how much longer is Gordon under team control? As one of the better young guards in the league I would assume he's getting the [expletive] out of NO as soon as free agency comes.

Per Chad Ford:

Barring an extension, Gordon will be a restricted FA on July 1st. If no deal with NO, he's an unrestricted FA in summer of 2013.

I know the Clippers had to make this trade. If you have a chance to build your team around Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, you have to do it and work out the rest later. But I hate to see them have to give up Gordon and the Minnesota 1st rounder. I am a big Gordon fan and if they somehow managed to keep him in a trade they might be contenders this year. Instead, they could still be but probably need a little more.

It's gonna be interesting to see how they fill out their roster. Looking at their roster on ESPN.com, it looks like they have 9 players currently under contract:

PGs - Chris Paul, Mo Williams, Chauncey Billups, Eric Bledsoe (4)

SGs - Randy Foye (1)

SFs - Caron Butler, Ryan Gomes (1)

PFs - Blake Griffin, Brian Cook (2)

C - DeAndre Jordan (1)

I gotta think they will be in on some front court FAs, and they will have to make some sort of decision on their PG flux. Billups will not be a backup, so you either make him the starting SG, which seems awkward to do, or you have to trade him if thats even possible. Then you have Mo Williams, another PG who wants to start or at least play 6th man minutes. Also, Bledsoe is supposedly a young up and coming player, so its stupid to make him ride the bench too.

My guess is that they will try the Billups at SG experiment, and make a trade involving Williams, Bledsoe or both for front court depth. The starting 5 of Paul, Billups (if it works out), Butler, Griffin, Jordan is pretty solid though.

Pretty sure that Billups can't be traded

I'm happy the Clippers appear to be headed for the playoffs. That's a solid team right now and it's certainly possible they can trade Mo or Bledsoe for an upgrade somewhere.

Yeah I figured that might be the case. Can he be waived if he complains about not starting? I'm guessing they will make him the starting SG and see what happens.

Wait, I was told no one would trade a young, talented player for Chris Paul?

Either this hasn't been posted yet or it's just old news that I just heard, but I don't follow the NBA much these days but the Bulls signe Rip Hamilton to a 5/5,150,000 deal. Is he still any good?

it's 2/10

The Chicago Tribune reported Hamilton will sign a two-year deal for $10 million, and the third year is a team option with partial guarantees on $5,150,000.

Just in time for Rip to leave. That'll also be the summer before Deng's final year. I haven't looked at the numbers but I'm assuming Boozer would have to be amnestied to make room. Even then it's probably not enough to be able to fit him under. Probably S+T with Deng going back or to a 3rd team.

Blake Griffin is going to lead the league in scoring. I can't imagine how many alleys he's going to catch this year. The new rip move rule is going to chop a couple points off Durant's totals.

gordon will never sign with the bulls, he'd get too many death threats.

Wow, they actually got a better deal than they were in the previous trade, which I thought was really good for them.

Didn't say anything about two young, talented players.

It looks like the Pacers roster is probably done without adding another shooting guard at this point. It would have been nice, but it wasn't really necessary. The Pacers look like they are going ahead with starting Paul George at SG who has grown 2 inches since the Chicago series and is now 6 foot 10. Whether he can still guard players like Rose at that height will be interesting to see.
