Pittsburgh just swept the Astros after taking 2 of 3 from the Mets. They're now 2 games over .500 and 3 games out of first, but still in fourth place.

I was watching some highlights from last night, and holy [expletive], did anyone else see John Danks take that liner to the head? How the hell Is he standing, let alone finish the game and scheduled to make his next start?

Pujols just left the game against the Royals after a collision at 1st base. Looks like at the very least he will have a sprained wrist, at worst he could have broken a bone in there.

Whatever it is, they better let him sit out the rest of the season to let it fully heal. Want him at full strength next year :D. Perhaps we can interest them in Carlos Pena for Shelby Miller until then. 8-)

the red sox have a team ops of around .900 in june and after scoring at least 13 tonight, have scored 131 runs in 17 june games (almost 8 per game). the next-highest run total this month is 98 by the yankees. yikes.

Just saw the "highlights" of the Red Sox/Orioles game... Kevin Gregg and David Ortiz got into a bit of a scuffle. Several haymakers thrown (none landed).

Derek Jeter got his 3,000th hit with a HR in the 3rd inning of today's Yankees/Rays game.

Like him or hate him, that's pretty cool.

Amazing day for him today. 5 for 5. His 3000th hit (HR) tied the game at 1. He scored another run to tie the game at 3. Then picked up the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the 8th to turn it over to Rivera. Couldn't have written a better script unless Posada scored the winning run and Pettitte got the win.

The White Sox play by play showed a passed ball followed by Pierzynski replacing Castro. I assume this was Guillen throwing a hissy fit and not Castro somehow being hurt on a passed ball?

Castro actually broke his hand when he was hit with a wild pitch. At least it wasn't out Castro. I'm sure some site will post Chicagos Castro to DL with broken hand freaking out the Cubs fans. Too bad AJ wasn't behind the plate.

Anyone see the Dodgers-Padres game today?

The Padres had a no-hitter through 8 2/3 (Harang and a couple relievers) but it was still 0-0 in the bottom of the ninth since San Diego couldn't score and managed only one hit in the game (which came in the fifth). With two outs, Juan Uribe doubled and then Dioner Navarro singled him in for the winning (and only) run.

Red Sox-Rays are in the 16th inning tied 0-0. 3 hits a piece, red sox have walked 12 times and the rays just once. Red Sox have 30 LOB

I want to sleep, but I have to see how this ends.

that was if you count each player's LOB collectively. the team LOB was 17 for the game.

So the Mariners have now lost 16 straight games, the second longest streak since 1994. They were 43-43 on July 5 and haven't won since. But what's interesting is that over the same span, Texas is 13-3. So going into the games on July 6, Seattle was only 2.5 games out and in the race but only three weeks later, they're 15.5 games out and their season is over.

Pirates-Braves are 3-3 in the top of the 16th. All the scoring was done in the first three innings.

LOL. Home plate ump totally wanted to go home on that one.

He inexplicably called the runner safe at home on a grounder to third when he was tagged out on the leg way before he touched the plate. Really tough way for the Pirates to lose.

Also, game winning hit was by the pitcher, Scott Proctor.
