The last two games Wisconsin and Minnesota have been a combined 7-51 and while that partly due to good defense, I can't imagine those number standing. The fact is, it's not like Iowa blew those teams out so I assume teams will hit threes at a somewhat better pace than that from here on out and those couple more threes in the game whatever team they play hits will cost them some wins.

I'm trying not to have any expectations at all. I'm just going to ride out and enjoy the season and hope they get some more big wins.

This is true. We got pretty lucky at Wisconsin with some of those misses. Then again Brust chucked up more than a few from 4-5 feet behind the line, Taylor was just below his average rate and Berggren followed up his 1-6 with an 0-5 against MSU. Everyone else only took a couple.

Last night was more strategic. After letting Minnesota get into the lane too easily Fran switched to the zone and they packed it in. They didn't let Sampson get any mid-range stuff and Minnesota had no idea how to attack it for the most part. That's a team you want shooting 3's and it was mostly bad or average shooters chucking up 3's all second half.

The closeouts on shooters and rotations have been much better the last couple of weeks. The offense has been good against 3 good defenses and they're getting into the lane often. As far as expectations, 6-9 the rest of the way for a 16-15 (8-10) would be good enough for some postseason and that's all I'm looking for right now.

I mean, I get that it sucks sitting on the bench, but they are freshmen, how much were they expecting? I'm quite certain Weber has difficulty communicating their future to them, but shouldn't Jerrance be able to do something?

Yeah, but from what I've read Henry kills it at practice. Scores at will, we get in games and can't score. Then he looks and sees what Ryan Boatright is doing at UCONN, he was better than him in high school. Hung 40 on him. The whole thing is a mess. Somehow we need to get better at communicating with our players.

No, we need an offense with some imagination and creativity. I love the motion, but you have to add wrinkles to it here and there or it doesn't work year after year. And you have to recruit guys who can run it. Having no actual point guard right now just kills their offensive capabilities.

Abrams is a point guard. I'm just worried that this concern about having a true point guard is going to lead to Orris getting like 15 minutes/game next year, at which point I wouldn't blame anyone for transferring.

Yes he is, he's also from Chicago. Please give him the same chance that Chester Frazier got. It would behoove Weber to give the Chicago kids the same chances he gives the less talent out of state kids.

the illinois basketball operating expenses are actually a half million dollars more than ohio state's, and that counts "football revenue poured" into the basketball program. the illinois and ohio state basketball programs are, money-wise, very similar.

Then you're doing something wrong.

yeah, we hired bruce instead of thad when we had the chance.

My hope is that the Northwestern game showed that gimpy Maniscalco doesn't need to be on the court as anything but a role player, and that he'll turn the reins over to Abrams. My concern is that he'll see we only won by 1. Hopefully Abrams playing 30 minutes of turnover-less ball will push him towards the hope side.

Yep anyone with a clue can see that. We hired a Todd Lickliter, ours just was given a Ferrari to use at first. Thus he's still here.

He reminds me in some ways of Deron as a frosh. I hope he is given the chance to develop like Deron was. No reason for him not to.

DePaul up 3 on Pittsburgh with 8 minutes left on ESPN2. Based on DePaul games from the last 3 years, we know how this ends. For those that don't realize, they didn't get blown out of every Big East game over that span, they actually had a few very competitive games that they blew at the end. Probably from teams taking them lightly but still.

Also, I should be looking forward to Indiana/Michigan but I cannot see Michigan winning in Bloomington. Hope I'm wrong.

Billy Oliver? Who? This is kind of funny. There are dozens of fired up fans!

School's not in back in session yet

Haha. That's funny. Anyway, Purdue is such a Jekyll and Hyde team it's ridiculous. Losing to PSU should be an automatic ban from the NCAA tournament.

Well at least DePaul won because Michigan is currently getting stomped and the Hawks just lost a heartbreaker. 1-2 is better than 0-3.

Now I know why ND beat Pitt. Pitt sucks. Really bad.

Ouch let DePaul have their day in the sun before you bag on their opponent :)

Ugh, Michigan had 3-4 possessions down 2 in the last 3 minutes of the game and took a bunch of rushed 3's and missed them all. Michigan just lost their composure down the stretch.

At least they kept it competitive and didn't give up when they went down double digits 2 separate times in the game.

Gotta beat Wisconsin later in the week to keep their ranking.
