Zeller gets these calls on the road too. Hell he threw Travis Carroll to the floor at Mackey and the refs called Carroll for getting in his way. It's like the media and refs want to take turns giving the whole IU team hand jobs.

We better win that Penn state game at home. Or we might lose out.

I have a hard time seeing Iowa beating Illinois on the road.

I see Illinois fans are upset about the officiating this game. I will give you that there was a huge foul discrepancy in this game, but let's not act like officiating is why Illinois lost this game. The Illini lost because they let Jordan Hulls and Victor Oladipo get to the lane at will. They allowed 14 layups to IU out of the 21 baskets they scored. And many of the FTs were scored due to the guards' penetration. Seriously, Oladipo had 18 points and literally every single one was a layup or a freethrow made from being fouled going for a layup. On the other side, Illinois settled for the jump shot way too often, hoisting up 21 threes (19 when the game was in question). Hometown calls or not, that's how the fouls are going to go in a game like this.

As for the Leonard fouls, I don't remember the first one. But he clearly tried to run thru that pick when he was frustrated. He also did commit a moving screen for his 4th foul. As for the elbow, that's also a foul on Leonard. His feet were not set and Zeller was aggressive with him. That's a foul in Bloomington, Champagne (sp?), or on Mars.

Argue away.

Illinois got away with plenty of crap tonight. I don't want to hear it.

No, they didn't. 42 free throws and 28 fouls suggests they got away with nothing. You may not want to hear it, but it was one of the more one-sided officiated games of the year.

Feet set or not, you can't throw an elbow into the defender and initiate contact. Anywhere but Bloomington it's an offensive foul.

How else were they going to call it? Over 1/2 of Illinois shots were jump shots over 16 feet. Over 1/2 of IUs were layups. Illinois let IU to the rim at will. How do you even up the FTs in a game like that.

Not agreeing with the original post. Don't think Illinois got away with anything, but it's not like IU was hacking guys at the rim because Illinois didn't even try to get there for the most part....while on the other end, they did nothing to stop Hulls and Oladipo.

I don't think he "threw" and elbow. His elbows were up as they should have been. He didn't go out of his way to use his elbow to create space.

Hulls and Oladipo had full confidence after the first 5 minutes that any time they drove the lane, even if the shot didn't fall they'd get bailed out with a foul call. Every time.

First off, Hulls didn't shoot any FTs from driving the ball. All his FTs were when UI was in the bonus.

Secondly, how many times did Oladipo shoot FTs where he wasn't fouled? All those calls were legit.

IU deserved some sort of free throw disparity. They drove into the lane much more consistently than Illinois did. And when Illinois threw it into the post, Indiana didn't challenge it very much which is part of the reason Leonard shot such a good percentage. Did they deserve a 27 free throw disparity? I don't know. It's certainly not been something that's been consistent with IU all Big 10 play. They've had some games where they've had a big free throw edge and others where they had a big deficit.

Good win for IU. Hopefully they can beat Northwestern and split their road games and their other two road games to go 10-8 in conference. That would be a victory for this team.

Indiana was in the bonus in the second half before they even had a foul called on them. The fourth foul on Leonard was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. I'm so happy the Weber era is coming to a close. Too bad there's no chance Shaka ends up at Illinois.

The game was decided when Leonard got two awful foul calls in a row forcing him to set 8 minutes. Kind of like when the same thing happened to Sullinger earlier this year. At IU.
