There's a medical hardship extra year, and I believe a waiver keeping his tuition paid if he's unable to play ball, but I wasn't aware of any that allow him to continue to play without counting towards scholarship.

I believe AJ Ratliff took one of those his senior year. I'm guessing this is what will happen. Creek is done playing basketball.

Wasn't clappy still recruiting someone for next year or was that class of '13?

He was recruiting Harris, but he chose Michigan State. As far as I know he isn't recruiting anyone else, but I am not the most plugged in on that front. They still should be recruiting for 2013 because they have another scholarship left to fill in that class (and possibly 2 depending on how the oversign situation works itself out for 2012).

If Crean is still recruiting someone for 2012, it is completely under the radar. All the available information indicated that 2012 was Harris-or-nothing. I think IU would like to bring in two more recruits for 2013, though.

prediction: UCLA will beat KU tonight.

LOL.

Oh yeah. My bad. I try to forget that Creek played last year because it was so painful. Not painful because he was not good; painful because he looked so unhealthy, so unsteady on his legs, that I kept waiting for him to get hurt. Oh well.

I keep hearing Hulls might pay his own way and go off scholarship (unless Creek gives up basketball and takes a medical/hardships/whatever-it's-called-that-I-think-exists scholarship). I don't want to lose Jurkin or Etherington, and I sure don't want to lose Sheehey.

Sheehey would be a big loss, I like his potential. I think the idea of Hulls paying his own way is a pipe dream that has been created on the internet based on the premise that he is from Bloomington and grew up on IU fan, I highly doubt there is any truth to that rumor.

you will punish us down low.

Offensively, Nelson can if his head is in the game. Defensively, Stover will. The Wears and Smith will punish UCLA. Somehow Josh Smith is fatter, slower and more plodding than ever. And the Wears are somehow less athletic than Smith.

And the guards are baaaaaad.

It may not happen; but I'm not merely going off internet rumors.

So I miss the great and against Memphis and then get to watch this brickfest?

Halftime shooting percentages couldn't be further apart.

Duke: .650, .667 from 3

Michigan: .333, .182 from 3

I guess i should feel fortunate they are only down 12.

This actually minds me a lot of their NCAA tourney game last year. Duke had a lead that occasionally jumped to double digits in the first half, and after a brief UM comeback, Duke extends the lead to 15 midway through the 2nd half and looks in control, and then Michigan almost improbably comes back and makes it close in the final minutes.

You know more than me on this front . . . but I think you are too down on this year's Kansas squad. Sure, they're not as loaded as previous years -- but that just means you fell back to the pack a bit. KU was better than I expected against Kentucky -- they played them nearly straight up and UK is just loaded with talent/athleticism.

I'm going to be pissed if Peter Jurkin gets Creaned. Wow, that's a dangerous sentence.

Please list the players that have been "Creaned." Next, list the players that have been "Painted."

I don't have much insight on the Crean "list", but I'm pretty sure Capobianco is one of those guys. I may be mistaken though.

As for the Painter "list", here's the guys that have left the team since Painter became head honcho.

Nate Minnoy - Left the team inexplicably after being the only freshman to start every game in 2005 leading up to a knee injury. Averaged 10.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Left the team in September 2006, so they did not get the benefit of adding another scholarship for the year.

Chris Lutz - Easily Purdue's best shooter at the time. I believe percentage-wise, he was the best shooter in the conference when he left the team. There's no way he was forced off the team. He likely was unhappy about his reduced minutes, but he still had a large role.

Jonathan Uchendu - Left the team at the same time Lutz did. His leaving left the 2007 Boilermakers with only two guys 6'10 or taller. He was going to serve a role as a reserve big man behind Johnson and Calasan. He got in some legal troubles in his freshman year which was likely a contributor to leaving Purdue.

Scott Martin - I don't think I need to explain this one.

Patrick Bade - This is the one I could see people questioning. After rigorously cutting weight after his freshman year, Bade did not get the benefit of increased minutes. This last off season, he decided to drop his scholarship for the basketball team and pick one up with the football team. He was actually more highly recruited as a tight end in high school than he was as a basketball player. The one reason I don't see this one being suspicious either was the low playing time and the fact that again, Purdue lost out on a scholarship as they were not able to fill it before the season started.

So, which of these guys was "Painted"?
