Is it too early to start the Robbie Hummel BTPOY campaign? :-"

You know that Sullinger will be back and they can't steal it from him again only to give it to another less talented Purdue kid, right?

haha, steal it... like JJ didn't deserve recognition... you might want to check his trophy case since pretty much the rest of America disagrees with you...

Most of America had Dee Brown the Big Ten player of the Year over Deron Williams in 05 too, didn't make it right.

Where will Richmond go in the draft?

He won't. Drug use, two fights with teammates, and failed classes. No way. Enjoy Europe.

Maybe he and Selby can go halvsies on a Frommer's Guide as they begin their overseas careers.

Richmond is still 6'7". He will get drafted.

Notre Dame will probably finish 6th or 7th in the Big East, make the tournament again and lose early again. I look forward to watching Scott and Abromaitis and the development of Eric Atkins, but my excitement level is still very muted after the crappy final 2.5 games ND closed the season with.

What happens to late 2nd rounders, D-league usually? Does anyone ever develop into an NBA starter from that point? Stay in school, Jereme

I'd take Sullinger over Johnson or Hummel so fast it'd make your head spin.

They don't get a 3 year contract like the first rounders, meaning if they don't show something pretty quickly, they're either off to the D-League or out of the NBA altogether. There are notable exceptions (Gilbert Arenas was a 2nd rounder, for example), but usually it's not worth leaving college early unless you're more or less guaranteed to be a 1st rounder)

Other notable 2nd rounders include Ginobli, Boozer, Rodman, Hornacek, Ceballos, Redd and Lewis, but the odds of "making it" as a 2nd rounder aren't great

Apparently, the problem is he can't stay in school because of his grades. Somehow this is Weber's fault.

I have no problem picking Sullinger over Hummel as the favorite for Big 10 Player of the Year next year. I do have a problem with people implying that Johnson stole the award from Sullinger this year. Especially given the disparity in points per game and blocks per game; Sullinger had much more talent around him and wasn't as important to his team as Johnson was to Purdue; finally, while Johnson's and Sullinger's numbers were about even when the Big Ten schedule started, Johnson pulled away after that point.

Sullinger was a great player this year and a deserving All American. He was not as good as Johnson though.

My Hummel comment was not serious. It was a jab at the Hummel haters. If he does win it this year it will be glorious to celebrate it on this board. Sullinger is more talented but that doesn't mean he had a better season last year.

Who on Ohio State was as good as E'Twaun Moore? Besides Sullinger?

Lighty, Buford, Diebler, Craft, Lauderdale, Thomas > Moore, Byrd, LewJack, Barlow, Smith, Terone Johnson, Carroll

Really? You're going to argue that Purdue's roster outside JJ was superior to OSU outside Sullinger? I mean, I wish it was, but it wasn't. It wasn't even close. In order to beat OSU at home E'Twaun had to have the best game of his career.

The award is the Big Ten POTY, but it seems like this has gone to the classic best player vs. most valuable player debate. If we're going to argue that this is in fact a most valuable player award then I would say the list goes 1) Battle 2) JJ 3) Sullinger. If this is the best player in teh big ten then there's not much doubt it should be Sullinger. I do not think JJ was an egregious choice by any standard, and I think he was deserving of the award.

Johnson had 20.5ppg, 8.6rpg, and 2.3bpg. Sullinger had 17.2ppg, 10.2rpg, and 0.5bpg.

I don't want to dismiss the value of rebounding, but Johnson clearly had the better season. Sure, Sullinger had a better FG%, but Johnson was playing away from the basket a lot compared to Sullinger who was pretty much in the paint.

I just don't see how you can say the best player in the Big Ten was without much doubt Sullinger. That's clearly not the case.

Kyrie Irving to the NBA

He's going to be so good in the NBA

I don't understand why ANY underclassman would declare for the draft right now when there might not even be a season next year

DePaul gets a verbal from 2013 4* Billy Garrett, Jr. Currently #61 in the nation. Huge get, although since his dad is a DePaul assistant, it would have been an even bigger loss. Maybe things are starting to turn the corner into mediocrity in Lincoln Park...

Yep, the Morris twins are gone. Never would've thought they would go league early when we first got them. Should be an interesting year next year for KU hoops.
