GOTTA HAVE HAITH

Alden is getting destroyed down here for this.

There's a lot of people being idiots about the hire, I'm trying to pretend they are the intersection of Mizzou and Cardinal fans.

Royals fans IMO.

What is there to indicate Haith is a god hire, though?

There's nothing to indicate he'll dump Bade or any other player.

Scholarship offers to Gary Harris and Ronnie Johnson (Hammons too?). Lots of people seem to think that if Harris wants to come to Purdue - room will be made. Plus there is the Barlow situation. He's one mistake away from being gone - and if he does act up again, that WOULD be fine with me. He's been given a lot of chances and if he's a distraction again he needs to go.

So far he's sucking up to the right people, saying that Missouri is going to start recruiting in St. Louis again and he's reportedly hired Jeff Capel as his assistant. I think TT's description of them as a clean Baylor program is on the money.

It's not so much that Haith is a good hire, it's more that there's going to be a lot of questions with any of the alternatives too. I'm not going to begrudge the person who thinks that Gregg Marshall would've been a better hire, but in reality he's not too different than Haith on the whole, just with different strengths and weaknesses. People had such a visceral reaction to Haith's record at Miami(which is just as much a measure of his coaching ability as the state of Miami basketball in the ACC) that they were wanting his hiring repealed. That's insanity if the alternative is Ben Jacobson. The outrage wasn't proportional.

I keep forgetting Molock is coming in 2012. I thought there was still a scholarship available.

I think IU fans are going to have to wait a year for a fun season. Hulls took a huge step forward from Frosh to Soph, but they are going to need Oladipo and/or Sheehey to do the same. Jones is going to have to take better shots and make better decisions with the ball (and Crean's going to have to take the ball out of his hands). Watford is going to have to continue to get stronger, but unless he learns to jump higher, he has limited upside to his game. And I don't expect Creek to do much, if anything.

Having another big will help a lot, but the other 2 Zeller's weren't huge contributors as freshmen. Of course, they didn't have to be on their teams. Hopefully, Crean can show he can coach inside players and get some inside-out game going w/ Zeller and Watford, kicking from the post to the shooters on the wing.

Draft Express ranks him 40th overall at this point, so maybe the back of the first round?

Where will Richmond go in the draft?

He won't. Drug use, two fights with teammates, and failed classes. No way. Enjoy Europe.

I thought those things were common in the NBA?

Jesus, really hope this doesn't impact us with the 2013 kids from Chicago. Less than impressive year for our first burger boy since Dee.

From a totally emotionally detached perspective(i.e. not caring about him as a human being), should we root for him to fail so they blame him for his failures, or root for him to succeed so we don't get blamed for his failures?

Former Alabama coach Mark Gottfried has been named as the new coach at NC State.

Another school that doesn't have access to a dump truck.

What an awful Haith-level hire

I don't even care. I am rooting for us to be awful next year. This era has to end. It's one turd after another.

That's dumb. And I bet you won't

I won't, but probably won't have to. Man where the hell are the points gonna come from? Brandon Paul and?

Is it too early to start the Robbie Hummel BTPOY campaign? :-"

You know that Sullinger will be back and they can't steal it from him again only to give it to another less talented Purdue kid, right?

Maybe he and Selby can go halvsies on a Frommer's Guide as they begin their overseas careers.
