UNC Asheville wins the Big South, and earns the first NCAA bid.

I am against Coastal Carolina for at-large. 4 of their wins were against non-D1 teams leaving their record as a less gaudy 24-5. Their only game against a tourney-quality opponent was a 19 point loss to Georgetown. Their highest ranked win (Pomeroy) was #135 East Carolina. They only have 5 Top 200 wins. They're a non-starter for me.

Plus they're without a few of the key guys that got them that resume. They're decimated right now, they don't have a chance.

Belmont wins the Atlantic Sun championship easily, negating any need to discuss their at-large qualities. It'll be interesting to see where the committee seeds them, because they'd be a nightmare 12 seed, let alone a 13 seed.

I expect KU to play them in the second round.

Morehead State wins the OVC.

Harvard beat Princeton to clinch a share of the Ivy title. Now Princeton has to beat Penn next Tuesday to force a one-game playoff for the bid.

Butler beat Cleveland State in the Horizon semis. Cleveland State has the weirdest RPI profile ever. 3rd best team in the Horizon league (the 11th best league!) and yet they have an RPI of 40(!) despite losing to Butler 3 times and their best win being at home over a decent Iona team.

I guess what I'm saying is for the love of God, NCAA, stop using RPI numbers and use a respectable metric.

WTF Washington? Now they're going to lose at home to USC?

I wish UCLA would be able to win in Seattle. Not too surprising - Thursday was an emotionally draining victory for them. I'm just not sure what to make of the Huskies.

The NCAAA Tournament this year makes no [expletive] sense. When I fill out my bracket I am thinking of just picking which teams mascot would win in a head to head fight.

At the risk of sounding like a giant homer, it seems to me that there are 6 teams left with a shot at a 1 seed.

Ohio State, KU, Pitt and Duke are probably the 1s right now in that order.

And the other two in contention are Notre Dame and Texas pending the results of conference tourneys. ND could get a 1 but it would probably take a Big East tournament title unless Duke or Pitt craps out early. Texas I feel is a long shot, but still in the discussion if they win the Big 12 tourney. Purdue could be included as a super-long shot but after that brutal loss I'd think mass carnage in the conference tourneys for the other potential 1s would be the only way they get in.

Thoughts? BYU or SDSU still in the discussion for a 1 and I'm not giving them enough credit?

Wisconsin, Purdue, BYU, and SDSU are at least in the discussion at this point, and BYU and SDSU's profiles are much better than many think, despite being in just the #6 conference.

EDIT: UNC, too, now that I think of it.

Because they lost to Minnesota, Vandy, Illinois, and Georgia Tech(not to mention Duke and Texas), and they're 5-4 against likely tournament teams(maybe 7-4 depending on how you feel about BC).

VCU about 15 minutes away from potentially stealing an at-large bid.

I think ODU has a better case than Mason.

My bad, I thought that was the championship. GMU out, though, and into the potential at-large pool.

ND's a lot closer to a 1 seed than I initially thought. They're not far behind Pitt.

Is Missouri State at-large quality if they lose here to Indiana State? MVC was the 14th-rated league this year, basically the back end of the second tier of conferences (with A10, CUSA, Horizon, WAC, WCC, CAA).
