I know someone mentioned about Manning's turning down the Bears offer..

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Bears-safety-Manning-rejected-contract-extensio?urn=nfl-327375

"This currently makes him a restricted free agent, which means that the Bears would have the chance to match any offer that he received from another team. If the Bears decided not to match, the team would owe Chicago a second-round pick."

Is this true? Or is this something the owners/players union want to change in the CBA? If the Bears can get a good 2nd round pick, I would be willing to let Manning go at that price IMO. Just curious...

I'm not 100% on this, but apparently there's some debate about whether or not last year counts because of it being an uncapped year or something. A lot of teams will put in a tender and treat certain guys as RFA's, but after the new CBA, chances are they'll be UFA's.

Time to pick up Shaun Rogers and Sidney Rice and draft the OT form Colorado.

1 for 3. I don't want Rogers or Solder.

I don't think Solder will be there for the Bears to pick anyway.

Yeah. I doubt he'll be there. And I want nothing to do with Rogers.

I'd take Rice in a heartbeat if I his health is ok.

It's going to be changed and he will likely be unrestricted.

Robert Gallery will be a UFA. Worth a look-see?

He no do so good at LT, but he's turned into a pretty damn good LG. I'm not sure what the price tag is, but he'd definitely be an upgrade for that line.

Oh yeah, was only interested as a guard.

Worried about durability too.

Didn't really expect that. That was nice.

Yeah. Maybe I'm easy to convince to forgive and forget, but I love when guys do that kind of thing.

Gallery is going to get paid a lot mainly because he's already been paid a lot as the #2 pick of the draft. Guys who are only 30 don't typically have to take drastic pay cuts if they can still perform at a half decent level.

If not, though, he is worth a look, but I worry about his pricetag.

That doesn't really make sense. He was originally paid that money because he was the #2 pick and a LT. Now he's neither. Holding out for that type of money will leave him unemployed. He'll get paid for what he is: a pretty good guard. He may get a slight bump due to his name, but nothing too terrible.

I love the one Karros had was back when after only 1 season.

“The only thing that was mutually agreed upon is his numbers were way out of line with ours,” Raiders senior executive John Herrera said.

According to Herrera, Gallery asked the Raiders for a new contract paying him $8 million a year. The Raiders were offering him $2.5 million.

Yes, but now he is a pro bowl caliber guard and pro bowl caliber OGs get paid a lot of money also. Actually, see Banedon's post to see what he's asking for. Not that he's going to get that, but I bet he gets at least 5.5-6mil/year.

looks like jacksonville has released mike sims-walker...also looks like he should be an ufa after the new cba.

i'd love to have him if the money is right...and it shouldn't be too bad with his lackluster performance this past season.

Classy way to go out for Tommie. I wish we could have resigned him for cheaper in a way.

Sims-Walker? Not my top choice, but he's an upgrade at least. If you get him, hopefully that leaves you money to spend elsewhere in FA as well.

Gallery? I see both the arguments being made on him. But, in the end, I wouldn't pay him what he evidently wants either. Especially since he's been pretty banged up over the past 2 seasons and he's not getting younger. Probably going to be better value out there than him. I think I'm for filling the OG need through the draft in round 1 or 2.

Yeah, if I'm spending the money Gallery wants, I'm getting Davin Joseph or Carl Nicks. But I'd rather go cheaper and bring in a G, T, WR and possibly a S, LB, or DT. With the CBA, there should be a lot of young talent in free agency.

Tommie was such a bad ass before the knee problems. A rare dominating pass rushing DT. Imagine a healthy Tommie with a Peppers last year or the years to come. Visions of Sapp and Rice creating havok. Oh well, the story of football. Lightning in a bottle, catch it while you can....get Cutler some Oline help.

(fwiw) pff shits on that guy pretty hard

One of the more baffling things is how Joseph has built a reputation as a good player. This was another shoddy display and I implore anyone who thinks highly of him to watch the tape of him against the Cardinals.
