2011 Bears Offseason thread

schefter says the bills are looking to trade lee evans.

Yeah that works.

I don't see any way he ends up on the Bears.

You're probably right, but I wouldn't be entirely opposed to a trade centered around Evans and Knox.

I wouldn't do that. If Knox is sincere about "being a Bear for life" is it a good idea to trade him for a WR going towards the wrong side of 30? Especially with Knox being cheap for 1-2 more years and full of potential. We would be exchanging vertical threat WR's but with one having a significantly longer career left.

I've got the DVR set to record the replay of the Bears game on Sunday afternoon on the NFL network. Anyone know if it's available sooner than that?

Nationally, nope....not unless you have Sunday Ticket. NFL network has been doing live look-ins on the preseason games, so you might get to see a bit of it that way.

I don't even think Sunday Ticket is available for preseason games. I don't recall it in the past.

My bad, if that's the case. I haven't gotten Sunday Ticket...was an assumption on my part.

Should be a bunch of Chester Taylor types getting cut in the next few weeks, if not already. I'd be perfectly fine with just cutting Taylor. There is no way he makes the team at this point barring an injury to Forte or Barber.

I would do it in a heartbeat, but I'd be surprised if somebody traded a pick for him. Maybe a 7?

Why bother sending anything of value to us when you can sign him (or someone like him) off the waiver wire in a couple of weeks?

I don't know that anybody would do it, but if you felt he'd get a little more money on the open market and/or be signed by somebody else, or potentially not get cut, you would consider giving up a 7th rounder for him.

Bears 2011 Preview

Playing in an NFC North that is quickly becoming extremely competitive, the Bears needed to take a big step forward if they wanted to keep up with their competition, but they simply haven’t. Instead they’ve watched the Green Bay Packers maintain a roster that is young and talented, and they’ve watched the Detroit Lions work on correcting a number of problems that were holding them back.
