Direct quote of Quade:

Quade said he's already had some healthy disagreements with Hendry, Bush and others, and that's OK.

"I'm not of the mentality that I have to win," Quade said. "I'm not an ego guy. I want to do the right thing."

'Nuff said. We'll about this Quade guy; so far, I am not impressed.

All he's saying is that he is willing to change his mind based on what other people tell him. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

I'm definitely a Mike Quade fan now. To quote:

"I was really disappointed when I heard [silva's comments]. First of all, he's dead f---ing wrong, OK, about my pitching coach. And I have no f---ing time for that."

Quade continued to admonish the former Cubs pitcher.

"Respect is a two-way street," he said. "I don't want to hear anything about respect. If you ain't giving it, you ain't getting it."

Has a little Lee Elia in him.

Mike Quade for president.

I think he officially earned a spot on "the list".

2. Mike Quade

It occurs to me that in my lifetime I don't think I've ever seen the Cubs have a manager I'd consider "good." Lou surprised me and got all the way up into "he's better than most."

Mike has me legitimately excited though. He's pressed the right buttons so far at least.

The only thing that's missing is an Earl Weaver's tantrum/ejection during the season.... If he does that, then he's the greatest Cubs manager in history (LOL- just kidding... kinda)

Actually... I wonder how he will react to umps during the season if he get ejected. Wondering if he's more of a Bobby Cox or this guy...

I finally got to watch the last 2 games, and Quade was interviewed during both by the guys in the booth. Not surprised that Len & Bob's questions to him had more substance. The ESPN guys are a piece of work, especially that guy who was interviewing the players during the game. But I digress. Really like Quade's style. He seems like a no nonsense guy, and I like what I've heard from the players about him since he was brought on last season. Also good to see the Cubs organization rewarding someone who has not only paid his dues but is truly a good choice regardless of the time he has put in.

Love this dude.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — At the beginning of spring training in mid-February, manager Mike Quade said he'd like to see the Cubs run more in 2011.

But two days before the end of camp, Quade called an audible. Having sent outfielder Fernando Perez to Triple-A Iowa, the Cubs have no stolen-base threats.

"I almost feel like we're forcing something that we shouldn't," Quade said. "It goes against everything (I believe) — 'We're going to be aggressive, we want to run …' Yeah, you're going to run yourself into a lot of outs."

I didn't catch the postgame conference today, but people were saying good things about it. What were some of the highlights?

Does anyone know what Quade's salary is?

$not,enough.00

I thought I heard at one point it was 950k this year 1.1 mil next.

So Quade is making for the year what Sori makes in 8 games. Seems a tad off to me.

Not bad. My daughter was asking what his was in relationship to the players. I couldn't find a new list for 2011, but Lou was right under Torre on an old one I found. Good savings for the Cubs. Hopefully he'll be well worth every penny.

Jaramillo has more guaranteed money in his contract than Quade

While completely true, it is a 3 years vs 2 years comparison.

darwin barney batting second and reed johnson pinch hitting vs a rhp with fukudome available call this fan club into question.

EDIT and let's quit batting marlon byrd third.

Or putting Reed in for "defense" when Fukudome is available.
