Well Luck looked awesome again against a really good defensive coaching staff and team who had a month to prepare. He makes some throws look so easy and is pinpoint with them.

I don't know much about the Panthers ownership/front office but man that job has to be desirable just because of him. Look at the QB's that will be in that division the next 3-5 years and beyond though, wow.

I am still worried that Luck won't declare.

Heck, even when he does I will still live with the tiny bit of fear that we will somehow screw this up. Anything's possible after the train wreck I just witnessed the last 4 months.

4 months? 1 and done after a 1st round bye, 8-8 season after 12-4 the year before, re-signing Delhomme to a multi-year deal, trading a 2nd round pick in this draft for Armanti Edwards. The train wreck didn't just start 4 months ago. Sorry to bring this up, but the franchise has been going in the wrong direction for a little while now.

Wouldn't taking QB's with the first pick two years in a row only add to the train wreck that it's already been?

Who the heck is going to give up a second round pick for a back up quarterback?

Orton was a starter, and a very good one, all season until he got the coaching change, and Orton got an injury. He says he's healthy, but they want to see what Tebow has.

FO has Orton as the 12 ranked QB, just behind Flacco, just ahead of Vick, and far ahead of Cutler. Orton was 4th in Yds/G, and only had 9 picks.

All that said, they won't get a 2nd rounder, mostly because he's set to make $8.4mil next year.

I was being a bit facetious, as he got benched in favor of the bible thumper. Exclude his last 2 stinkers, and he was probably ranked in the top 10.

The Jaguars have actually always been my favorite AFC team.

Definitely an oddity. You have a connection to Jacksonville, or just fall for them when they entered the league?

They're my favorite AFC team too but that's because of Maurice Jones-Drew and Marcedes Lewis.

I figured it was more because you figured they were moving out to your neck of the woods and you wanted to get a head start on being a fan.

Oh...right...I'm a bit slow on the uptake today apparently.

I think Orton is pretty much the definition of a system QB. He did well in McDaniels' system, but I don't think he's more than an average starter for most teams. He's a smart QB who makes good decisions on the field, but without top-end physical skills. McDaniels' system calls for short, quick passes and smart decisions - what Orton excels at. I don't think a team would give a second round pick for him, but if they do, they're overpaying.

I was thinking we'd see a completely new cast of characters there. Thought Lewis would be gone, Palmer, TO, Ocho, and Benson gone as well. I'm sure TO is gone, but keeping Lewis may mean they don't plan on rebuilding immediately, so maybe those other 3 are coming back now?

John Clayton ranked Carson Palmer as the #15 QB, just ahead of...Jay Cutler.

interesting.

with lewis coming back, i'd be very shocked if ocho is a bengal next season. those 2 hate each other.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I could see the Bengals going with a WR group of Simpson/Shipley/Caldwell next year and probably getting close to the same production as they got this year out of the former group.

I wouldn't be shocked if that was one of the "issues" that had to be resolved.

By the way, I'm trying to figure out what WR I'd like to see the Bears obtain in the offseason and was going through different possibilities for us. I think we'll try to sign a FA instead of drafting one personally, as we're still running some horrible routes and may not want a rookie to potentially add to this problem.

I came up with 8 names that I think will be available, at least on some level, this upcomg offseason.

Ochocinco- Not my favorite choice, but he's a solid possession type at this stage of his career.

TO- Want no part of him, still think he divides lockerrooms, even though he appeared to be on damn good behavior this season.

Steve Breaston- I think he's worked very hard into becoming a solid WR, just not sure he's really an upgrade from what we have.

Sidney Rice- He's a FA and the Vikes could rebuild. Love this potential option, may be too pricey though?

Vincent Jackson- Would be my top choice, but think Chargers franchise him(if they're allowed to do so by then) if not, I think he'll want an exorbitant amount of money.

NYG Steve Smith- No idea if he's even going to be ready in time for next year, but he's a very solid route runner and finds a way to get open. He's a FA from what I can tell anyway and he's probably just their 3rd option anyway. Like I said, no idea if he'll be ready for next year though.

Carolina Steve Smith- Had a horrible year, but I think anyone would have done the same with Clausen/Moore throwing it to them. He's old, but I think he could be a very nice bargain type acquisition for a 2 year span or so. Not sure what Carolina would want for him, but it's been rumored he could be on the block possibly.

Braylon Edwards- Think he's a FA this year? Think he could stretch the field for us some and give Jay a legitimate WR to throw to for a change.

Obviously, there's no way of knowing how many of these guys wind up available until the CBA is sorted out, but looking at each of their situations, I'd expect most of them to be available on some level. I don't expect us to go and throw a ton of money at a WR this offseason, so I'm not expecting for Jackson to be our top target. But, I wouldn't mind some of these other guys and maybe it'd even leave us some money to go address the line in FA as well.

Schefter tweet on Harbaugh:

RT @mjroth1: What are you hearing about Harbaugh focused on 49ers, not Michigan? ... Up to SF to lure him. It's doing a very effective job.

And for soccer10k:

49ers requested permission to interview Raiders offensive coordinantor Hue Jackson for their head coach opening.

Also, nothing terribly new on the Titans front, but it's interesting that it's been put bluntly to Bud:

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams is being advised by senior management to part ways with quarterback Vince Young, according to a league source, but the decision remains his entirely.

Adams has yet to make a final decision on keeping coach Jeff Fisher, but Adams has been made aware of the fact that Fisher will not stay if Young remains on the team.

Looking more and more likely Fisher will bolt.

Posted

But then again:

I expect Bud Adams to make a decision on Fisher-Young by end of week after his meeting with top execs Monday.

Again, my thinking on the matter hasn't changed: I still think Fisher stays, and Vince goes

It's not ideal, but I just don't see how you can possibly pass up a talent like Luck, especially if a new CBA is reached and Carolina doesn't have to pay him 50M or so guaranteed.

Just heard on the radio that the Vikings signed Rhett Bomar to a three year deal and promised him a shot at the starting job. I liked Bomar since he was at OU, but if accurate, that's a little crazy.
