That's just crazy. Were the Ricky Stanzis of Colorado Springs flooding Denver that day? The only way someone could honestly believe that Tebow is going to be a good quarterback has to be a regular at church or strongly anti-abortion. I'm not saying that to be mean, but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Eric Crouch must be pissed, though.

Vince Young is gonna be either cut or traded by the Titans. I assume Fisher is back, if that's the case.

Fisher returning is the likely case at this point, though Bud has said he's still evaluating the coaching staff and could make further changes. My guess is, with Vince gone, Fisher and Bud will compromise. A couple coaching staff changes are almost definitely in the works, though (Chuck Cecil especially).

I'm really surprised by this. As anybody who pays attention to my Titans ramblings on here, I really didn't think Bud would let Vince go. It's a good move, though, as it was blatantly clear it wasn't going to work with a Fisher/Vince duo. The flood of opinions probably helped, as Titans VP Steve Underwood, GM Mike Reinfeldt and former coaches Jerry Glanville and Bum Phillips all met with Bud and told him to keep Fisher and cut Vince.

Titans PBP guy Mike Keith said today that if Fisher returns, Kerry Collins will as well, as a backup. So my hope is we bring Kerry back and focus on a QB in the draft - my early preferences being Gabbert, Mallett and Locker (primarily Gabbert).

I also think (and hope) this works out better for Vince too. He no longer has Bud to fall back on and now can go to a team with a coach who believes in him and didn't have him forced on him. Vince clearly has a ton of talent, so hopefully he'll fulfill it wherever he plays next.

There's plenty of football reasons to think Tebow can be a good NFL quarterback. There's plenty to think he won't as well, which is what made taking him in the first round such an odd decision, but he definitely can be a good NFL QB.

I'm trying to think of which team would be the best fit for Vince, part of me is thinking Miami. With the right OC, him with the Vikings could be interesting as well.

With Miami, it depends on how open to a mobile QB Sparano would be. If they make a change to Cowher or Harbaugh, I don't think Vince would fit with them at all, but he might with Sparano. Of course, Pat White never saw the field there.

The Vikings are a definite possibility, as the backups (Tarvaris if he returns and Joe Webb) are also mobile QBs and the offense wouldn't have to be adjusted should injury occur.

San Francisco might be a good spot depending on who they hire. Good talent around him, doesn't seem like a huge pressure situation and having a really good RB in Frank Gore would help.

If a starting gig doesn't open immediately, I wonder if the Eagles would be a good backup spot? I'd bet they're likely to deal Kolb and will need a backup, Vince could benefit by playing behind Vick for a year or two I think.

Would the Eagles deal Kolb to the Titans for Young and a draft pick?

That's entirely possible, and Kolb is the popular name for the Titans to pursue if Fisher/Reinfeldt don't draft a QB. I don't know that the Eagles trade Kolb for a backup QB, though, especially if being a backup would make Vince mad. If the pick is high enough, however, they may consider it.

Personally, I'm torn on the idea. On one hand, Kolb is a bit more of a proven commodity than a draftee, but he's already spent a few years in a west coast offense and would have to adjust to the Dinger system in Nashville. I don't know the contract details for him, but I'd bet his rookie contract is just about up too.

Kolb has one more year on the deal he signed before this season.

Here are the details.

4/29/2010: Signed a two-year, $12.25 million contract. The deal, fully guaranteed, included a $10.7 million signing bonus. 2010: $715,000, 2011: $1.392 million, 2012: Free Agen

Looks like if the Eagles trade him, there's going to be a 5+ million cap hit if the old rules apply in the CBA. That's going to make them think twice about trading him. The Eagles were looking for a second rounder for him last offseason, but I'd think a third and a fifth is about what they could get this year. A third plus Young may get it done, but I don't know.

Whoever trades for him will have him cheap for one year at 1.392 million, but then they would have to extend him or lose him to FA.

Thanks. I wouldn't dislike the Kolb option at all, but if a new CBA agreement puts a rookie cap on the incoming class then getting a slightly younger QB is a bit more appealing. I'm actually not that much more convinced Kolb can be a good NFL QB than a number of the guys in the draft - and I think some have a higher upside.

I'm telling you I couldn't believe it. We're not Broncos fans but a friend was on their roster at the time so we were out there for the weekend, saw all of the people in the stadium and as we were coming out to the players parking lot heard everyone worshipping him. I saw at least 5 sets of people that had two signs one had a big "T" and the next one had a giant bow. Any time he did anything the place went crazy.

From everything I've heard it's increased massively since he didn't completely embarrass himself in the regular season.

Holy Crap! According to Scheffer, the Dolphins offer to Harbaugh is in the 7-8 million range which would make him the highest paid NFL coach.

Now, I think Harbaugh has a bright future, and he may be an excellent coach, but that kind of money for a guy who has no track record in the NFL seems crazy to me.

It's said the 49ers won't compete with that offer, so if Harbaugh wants a payday, it looks like he might be coaching the Dolphins.

Would they give him full control too? That's just way too much to pay for a coach.

I think Harbaugh is a good coach, but...that sounds nuts for a guy moving to the NFL. As a Dolphins fan, I don't even know what to expect. What's the philosophy? What will be the staff? I can tell you right now, I don't want anybody but maybe Cowher if it's going to cost them Nolan.

Have the Dolphins even fired Sparano yet?

They're pretty much playing the "let's see what the other options are before we get rid of our current" game.

They probably want to make headlines, in part to get the fans going and fix that attendance problem they had late in the year. And in part because they'll likely have to blow away the 49ers offer to get him to Miami.

Well, when you go 1-7 at home, you tend to run into attendance problems. I don't think haphazardly spending money in January is going to put butts in seats in September. Not for a coach, anyway. There's still a lot that needs to be fixed before that happens.

Miami apparently learn from the wonderful Nick Saban experiment.

Not saying that just because Saban failed that Harbaugh will but you would think Miami would be one of the last teams to go after another college coach.

Al may have to fight for Hue:

Hue Jackson did indeed interview with 49ers today. Lengthy. Went very well I'm told. Made a strong impression

It's going to be hilarious when Hue goes to the Niners. I'm actually half hoping it happens just because I'm sure it would piss Al Davis off.

I can't wait for the Raiders to revert back to their old ways and go 4-12 next year.

Any chance Al just decides to coach the team himself?

I bet he tries to draft Chip Kelly or another coach in the second round of the draft.

Different ownership, though.

Oh, I don't think it would work, or that it is a good idea. Just speculating as to why they would make such an over the top offer.

Brian Billick was on Mike and Mike this morning and was displeased with how the Miami situation has gone. "Don't interview for another man's job" was one of his quotes (referring to Harbaugh/whoever interviewing for the job when Sporano is still the coach)

SportsBusinessDaily.com[/url]"]ESPN and the NFL have agreed to broad terms on a new media rights deal that will be worth nearly $2 billion per year. Specific numbers still are difficult to confirm, but multiple sources say ESPN has told the NFL that it will increase its annual rights fee by 40%, which means it will pay the league a record fee, between $1.8 billion and $1.9 billion a year.

Despite agreeing to pay the league nearly $2 billion per year to extend its rights to NFL content, including “Monday Night Football,” neither ESPN nor ABC will be in the rotation to carry the Super Bowl, according to several sources. In fact, it appears that ESPN still will not have the rights to televise any NFL playoff games, at least not initially. The league has long been unwilling to move playoff games off of broadcast television. But during the negotiations, ESPN has been pushing hard to pick up at least one wild card game, and the NFL has showed signs that it is willing to consider moving a playoff game to cable eventually.

The contract extension still has not been finalized and could be several weeks away from completion. But many of the bigger deal terms – including money and length – essentially have been worked out, sources said. ESPN will wrap up “Monday Night Football” rights well into the next decade. The deal length is for nine or 10 years, which would take it up to 2022-23.

As is part of all ESPN negotiations these days, the network is pushing forward on a “TV Everywhere” concept that includes broadband and mobile rights. The two sides still haven’t reached an agreement on mobile rights, however. Last year, Verizon signed a four-year, $720 million sponsorship deal that includes the exclusive mobile rights to stream “Sunday Night Football” and NFL Network games, as well as the NFL RedZone channel. The NFL sees significant value in these types of rights and is guarding them jealously.

It's presumeably a backup plan if Harbaugh goes to Miami, but...

The 49ers have reportedly had “initial discussions” with Josh McDaniels, according to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News.
