Latest walterfootball.com mock had some interesting movement in their latest mock. First, the Bears have Castonzo, Austin, Greg Little, and Daniel Thomas. I can live with that, nothing really new here either.

But, the interesting items were Gabbert going 10th overall. Maybe the QB position isn't going to be strong enough to make teams reach this year? They also had Mallett falling OUT of the 1st round, due to character concerns.

Also, gotta hand it to Raisin, now Tyron Smith is starting to show up as a mid -1st rounder on lots of mocks, including this one. Still, wonder if he doesn't beef up to 300 before the combine, if it hurts his draft stock somewhat, but hell, if he does, maybe he becomes a borderline top 10 pick?

Mark Ingram lasts until the last pick of the 1st round is fairly interesting. Just because I think the NFL is more of a passing game now than it's ever been and with the committee approach in lots of places, I think we're seeing RB's devalued quite a bit as a whole. Not necessarily Ingram, just RB's should be a very solid value for teams in the 4th-7th rounds, in my opinion.

I think a lot of teams have been able to get a lot of value out of RB's after the 1st round the last couple of years so it has to be an elite level RB to make a team want to draft him in the top 10.

I agree with shnsajax. Teams are finding talented RBs in later rounds (for example, Jamaal Charles, LeGarrett Blount, Ray Rice, Maurice Jones-Drew and the kid in Houston whose name I've forgotten) and when you have so many needs like top teams do, you feel like you can ignore RB early and fill another need there. That said, I think Ingram is a top-15 talent and shouldn't slide as much as some mock drafts have him dropping.

The Walter Football Mallet hate is pretty ridiculous. He has to come clean with his info on him (he keeps hinting that he has some dirt on him) and a poor Wonderlic score isn't enough to drop him out of the 1st.

I don't think Tyron Smith is a top 20 guy let alone a top 10 guy.

Interesting. I don't see the Bears going for back to back UNC delinquents. And I still don't see them going after a T in the 1st round, because they seem to like Omiyale, Webb, and still have Chris Williams.

I really like Greg Little though. With not having played this year, he didn't really get to up his draft stock and you throw that he didn't play because of the UNC scandal and his stock got hurt. I think he's a potential 1st round talent that could be had in the 3rd or 4th. Very intriguing.

Greg Little is great value in the 3rd round. But I'd hate to see no guard drafted in the first 4 rounds and I'd be really wary of drafting Marvin Austin.

I like taking Austin in the 2nd personally. He's obviously got 1st round talent and my guess is he'd play hard in order to get the eventual big contract. However, I do think he's probably a guy that once he gets it, he'll let off bigtime at that point.

Yeah, I'd stay away from Austin. Austin doesn't really seem like that great of a fit for the Bears D anyway. The Bears need more of a 3-technique, and Austin is more run stopper than quick first step and penetrate in the backfield. I think the Bears need a DT to be what Tommie was when he was healthy 4-5 years ago.

And I agree, I'd rather go Pouncey in the 1st than Castonzo, as guard is the way to go.

Newton's going pro.

Hasn't he been pro since signing his LOI?

Reminds me of the movie Baseketball

How do you think Shaq got rich? Playing in college, everyone knows that.

He's obviously looking for a more lucrative contract.

seems like tyron smith was always a guy on the cusp of stardom at usc. I never saw him dominate for big stretches. Plus he never seemed to add the bulk that guys talked about. He's really long and mobile but not very physical.

Which makes him a fine pick at the end of the first round - he's athletic with potential and room to grow. Anecdotally, when he left the Notre Dame game with an injury, USC's line just fell apart.

I'm interested to see what he looks like at the combine. Now he can (legally) get an agent and get a trainer to focus just on building strength and bulk before the combine. He had from USC's last game in December until late February to add 15lbs of muscle and put up a solid number on the bench. If he does that, he may fly up the boards.

I'm not sure he'll get anymore annually but he's probably looking for a little more stability on the duration. Despite non-guaranteed contracts it is possible for your father or agent to structure a deal that will effectively keep you in the same place for several years.

Nigel Bradham (OLB, Florida St) and Kenny Tate (S, Maryland) are returning.

WR/RB Randall Cobb of Kentucky is turning pro.
