yeah that long and snakebitten 15 year history has been brutal.

I'm 24, so I'm playing the "it doesn't really matter if I wasn't around and aware of it" card. I've been rooting for the Panthers longer than the Cubs.

and they've won 3 division championships, 4 playoff appearances and 1 conference championship, and played around .500 ball, which is reasonably good for a team that has only existed for 15 years. the jaguars have more playoff appearances but fewer division championships and no conference championships, and the texans haven't made the playoffs in 9 years of existence.

Alright, well, we have officially taken a flippant end-of-post remark and spun it completely out of joint, so I'm going to concede the point. The 2011 Panthers are still fucked and that's the relation to this thread.

I'd go AJ Green too. I would also cut Steve Smith. He's only under contract thru 2012. Carolina isn't likely going to be good this coming year. They might as well see if the young guys can play and let Smith catch on elsewhere, before he has another season (next year) that completely ends his career.

By the way, what happened to Carolina's OL? They were probably the best line in the league last year. Have they had injuries?

Yeah, Otah missed most or all of the year and I think Gross was banged up too.

The Carolina Panthers Train Wreck continues. We'd better work on getting an offensive line.

I kinda want A.J. Green with the first pick. Bowers is sensible, but we've got to give Clausen someone to throw to, and the rotting corpse of Steve Smith is not going to do it.

BTW, I guarantee that no matter how bad Carolina might be next year, they won't be #1 pick bad, because these things do not have a tendency to work out for this franchise.

trust me, luck will be a third-stringer/master holder in 5 years or he will be in the US house of representatives.

he didn't want to play for carolina, anyway, and this stops you guys from drafting your 10th qb in 2 seasons. he's probably thinking the niners will have the first pick next year, but he's in for a culture shock anyways because he'll have to play more than a few games outside the state of california and the west coast in general.

at least he didn't pull a john elway.

The good news for Andrew Luck is that as he tries to cope with the culture shock of playing outside California, he can maybe lean on his experiences in high school in Texas. Or his youth growing up in DC and Europe.

Which fully explains why he is tied to the West Coast. I'm sure his dad who was the president of the World League has no insight on what he should do either.

his dad is an ancient pagan deity that seduced his mother by taking the form of a powerful human aristocrat. everyone knows that.

Yes, his family is loaded. So I'm guessing there won't be culture shock in earning lots of money.

Sports Authority could be getting a cheap endorsement in a year or two.

but really, mikel leshoure set an illinois rushing record this year and is one of the top rb prospects potentially in the draft, i haven't been pimping him at all even though he's getting zero respect.

Zero respect? If more teams drafted running backs in the 1st round, Leshoure would get more hype. As is, he's getting a lot of love as the 2nd or 3rd best RB prospect in the draft. And Illinois RBs have a good name in the NFL thanks to Pierre Thomas and Mendenhall.

i just mean no one's been talking about him. and i really don't care, i think he would be dumb to come back, though.

So Sulley, what exact part of Andrew Luck's game will be his undoing in the NFL?
Posted

but really, i think his undoing will be what undoes most bust qbs, his pocket presence. also, i think he's got college intermediate accuracy, but i don't think throwing behind receivers plays well in the pros. i think his release is mechanical and he throws off-balance a lot and he doesn't have the kind of arm-strength to be able to make up for it in the NFL. his deep ball leaves something to be desired, too.

those are just my thoughts.

Wow, I think he has some of the best pocket presence I've seen in a college QB. Helps that he plays with one of the best OLs in football but he's pretty good when under pressure.

he tends to either back up and try to escape out the back when facing pressure, or tuck and run. he can get away with this when facing pac-10 DE's. he doesn't step up enough in the pocket with his feet under him and throw, imo.
