Wow, bet the Lions wish they didn't bust their ass to beat the Vikes yesterday

not too much, but like all season, i wish we hadn't had to play such a grueling schedule

Time to petition the league for a move to the NFC West.

I can't find a good list of the best wide receivers. I figure it starts with A.J. Green, followed by Jonathan Baldwin, then...

My ranking:

AJ Green

Justin Blackmon

Julio Jones

Michael Floyd

Torrey Smith

Jonathan Baldwin

Leonard Hankerson

Ryan Broyles

Those are all 1st 2 round WRs, IMO.

Hopefully somebody good falls to Oakland in the second round and the Raiders actually do the smart thing and take a WR.

Depends on who the fastest receiver at the combine is.

Well at least he didn't drag it out.

Franklin should be good, but man, with Gabbert back that team would've contended for a BCS game.

Anyone who would pick Gabbert over Luck probably shouldn't have any decision-making power.

Who said that?

Well crap, I misread Davell's post. Never mind.

Didn't know that making the playoffs, changes the draft order. Always that that was by record. Oh well. I was hoping some way Mallett would get to Seattle as that would be a better fit than Locker. Likely Seattle passes on a QB and takes a random OL.

I believe the rule was changed 2 years ago when the Chargers went 8-8. They got to host the 12-4 Colts in a playoff game and after they beat them they got to pick 11 spots ahead of them in the draft. They also got to pick ahead of teams who missed the playoffs and that was considered an unfair advantage.

I don't think that is right. The Giants and Ravens picked 30 and 31 (only 31 teams at that time) in 2001 after playing in the Superbowl. Or did that just affect SB teams at that time?

Yes, the rule used to be that the SB teams were the last two picks and everybody else was seeded by record. Now that rule extends to every round of the playoffs.

Ok. I didn't know that. I always thought the draft order was determined by order of exit in the playoffs.

It's not official but FS Rahim Moore of UCLA is turning pro.

Is he a first rounder or is there a chance he slips to the top of the second? I would love to have him on the Cowboys, but he'd have to be a second rounder for them to have a chance at him.

It's obviously very early, but I'm not seeing any Safeties going in the 1st round of any mocks so far.

Rahim supposedly got a 2nd round grade when he asked the NFL.

He was great as a sophomore (when he was surrounded by a whole lot more talent than his junior year) but probably overrated due to his interception numbers. He was much worse/more inconsistent this past season.

Can somebody post a list of unrestricted FAs?

Based on my understanding it would be kind of useless because of the uncertainty of how things will fall with the new CBA. A lot of the names that would be posted on the unrestricted list could very well end up being restricted and the ways that they can be tagged or exclusivity with negotiations could be up in the air.

Plus this is the draft thread.

This guy's mock draft has Blackmon falling to the Jets at #28.

I know the Bears need offensive line, but if Blackmon was there for the Bears...

Chicago Bears

Top needs: C, RG, DT, CB

Pick strategy: I'm not sold on the idea that it's a foregone conclusion the Bears will go after an offensive lineman in Round 1. That's because where they really need to look -- mainly on the interior given development they've gotten on the edges -- is a place you can find some value at a later point. You just don't see guards and centers drafted in the first round too often, unless you have a guy like Maurkice Pouncey or Mike Iupati last year that will immediately be starting and an upgrade. Keep an eye on corner, where Jenkins could be a good get. While the Bears have developed a competent core of wideouts seemingly on the cheap, if a big target that can overwhelm smaller DBs is here, such as Jon Baldwin of Pitt, it's something that could help diversify what Chicago can do in that passing game. And while Chicago has gotten the job done up front, if it wants continued effectiveness from an aging corps of linebackers, it will need to invest in a defensive tackle, perhaps right here.
