Where are you getting those comments, Banedon?

Leonard Hankerson and Greg Little are the WRs I'd like the Bears to hone in on in rounds 2 or 3 (good size and ability to create separation).

Yes. Really the only 2 guys I'm interested in early in the draft (also see Titus Young comments) since the Bears can't get Green or Jones. Both would be great fits in the offense. Both have the ability to run most of the route tree. Both have good speed and the ability to get deep. If you go WR early, these are the only 2 options IMO.

From Walterfootball.com:

Titus Young, WR, Boise State

Wow. I don't want to overreact to one day of practice, but it's going to be difficult not to. Titus Young was breath-taking on the practice field, blowing by defensive backs at will and breaking ankles with deadly jukes. He looks like a hybrid between DeSean Jackson and Mike Wallace.

I read something on him that said. Great fit for teams that run crossing routes w/ fast WRs. Perfect fit for the offenses like those in Philly and Martz's offense in Chicago.

I'm a HUGE fan of Titus Young, but I don't want another sub 6', sub 190lb WR, unless you are also bringing in a bigger one.

What about him would remind one of Mike Wallace with that size? It sounds like all Jackson to me

Wallace is the same size too.

Young, 5'11, 175

Wallace 6', 180

Jackson 5'10, 175

I heard him called a "more polished Johnny Knox"

Wallace is 6', Young is 5-11 (according to ESPN) and Jackson is 5-10. Wallace is thicker than either of the latter two, though (199 for Wallace, 170 for Young and 175 for Jackson).

Niles Paul is a monster. 6'1, 225lb WR? I would have more interest in him if he didn't come from Nebraska where they don't teach the passing game. He seems like a decent fit.

1/25/11: Niles Paul's hands measured in at 8 5/8 inches. As a reference, no receiver at the Senior Bowl had smaller than 9-inch hands. On the bright side, if Paul fails in the NFL, he can always get a job at the circus. Come see the man with freakishly small hands!

Mayock really likes Young. Sounds like he might sneak into the 1st round at this rate.

At least Niles Paul has a genetic explanation for why he can't catch anything.

Some comments on notable performances from Mondays senior bowl practice:

Jake Locker/QB/Washington: Locker struggled almost the entire first day in Mobile. He has an NFL arm, but the accuracy of his throws leaves much to be desired. Locker was constantly high of the mark, forcing receivers to leave their feet as they attempted to make the reception. His passes were also late as pass catchers were usually waiting for the ball to arrive.

Locker's interesting. He has the tools to be a top 10 pick, but he's so raw that I could see him easily falling into the second round.

I don't remember if it was the against Texas last year or this year where Nebraska had like 5+ passed that bounced straight off the WR's hands. It was like they were trying to catch flubber.

Titus Young had another standout day at Senior Bowl Practice. It looks like he's going to be the guy this year that helps his stock bigtime.

Yeah, he's probably an early 2nd round pick at this point, taking the spot of Ryan Broyles who stayed in school. Like was said yesterday, with the success of Jackson, Wallace, and Knox; guys his size aren't going to be overlooked anymore if they can play.

I've seen people speculating he could get into the first round, but that's mostly message board draftnik wannabe's. Man those message board people are lame!

Stephen Paea has a tear in his knee: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2011/news/story?id=6057999&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines

Probably means guys like Nevis and Luiget will move up. Maybe Paea can stumble all the way to the Bears 2nd rounder?

Damn, that'd be sweet.

I like Nevis and Liuget better, but Paea in the 2nd would be pretty sweet. I wonder if he'll bench at the combine. He's capable of putting up 45-50 reps from what I hear.

Luiget I can see but I would definitely take Paea over Nevis.

any scouting reports/draft status stuff for Pat Devlin? I'm curious if his decision to leave PSU for Delaware was a good one in helping his pro prospects

Based on what I've read, Jake Locker could be falling more. Gotta think he regrets not coming out last year at this point. Titus Young is getting enough Desean Jackson comps to where he could wind up as a 1st rounder.

Carimi, Castonzo, Sherrod and Solder appear to have solidified their standings. Carimi may even get some teams looking at his as a LT. Solder has the projjection to wind up 335 or so, which would make him a damn mountain. Sherrod looks like more of a pass protector than a run blocker at the next level. Castonzo evidently was more consistent out of the 4, but in the end, I think this could very well wind up as a log jam with none of these 4 being considered clearly ahead or behind the others.

I've seen some very solid reports on John Moffitt too. If he's available in the 3rd, he may be one of those guys you take, just because you KNOW he's going to be a solid guy you can immediately plug into your starting lineup.

About Paea: I read the injury probably keeps him out of the combine, but he'l probably have enough time to still schedule some individual workouts. Will hurt his stock though, so maybe there's hope he falls.....

Maybe it's been mentioned here and I glossed over it, but Cameron HEyward just had TJS? He's going to miss 12 weeks or so? He won't have much of a shot at getting in any private workouts or anything, with this being the case. So, here's another guy we may can hope starts falling......

Devlin seems to be going in the 2nd round in most mocks.

I didn't know about Paea as a 3-technique until he showed up at the Senior Bowl under 300. He played this season at about 310lbs and I thought he was probably a step slow for my liking. At 295 though, I'd probably take him over Nevis assuming he got a step quicker.

He's put himself squarely into the 2nd round picture as of now, with a few places thinking he could sneak into the back end of the 1st round. I'm not keeping up with QB's all that much(since the Bears aren't taking one) but Dan Reeves said he picked up the offense really quickly and can move through his reads with the best of them. He may actually need to hold onto the ball a little longer and let things develop in front of him to maximize whatever play was called.

Allright, here's a scenario: Carimi, Sherrod, Titus Young, Nevis, Liuget, Cameron Heyward, and Pouncey are on the board when we get to the 29th pick. What are you doing?

I know Wes Bunting at the National Football Post is a fan of his. He struggled in adapting to the under-center snap during East/West Bowl practice, though.

I tend to think he'll be the first of the second group of QBs to be taken (after the big names – Gabbert, Mallett, Newton, maybe Locker. Maybe early second round or so? I'm a fan of his and wouldn't mind if the Titans held off taking a QB in the first round to grab Devlin in the second.

Here's Bunting's write up from the Shrine Bowl practice:

QB Pat Devlin: Delaware

He’s not only one of my favorite small-school prospects, Devlin is in my view one of the best quarterback prospects in the entire draft. He’s a nice-sized kid with good athleticism for the position and can buy time with his feet. Plus, he throws a really accurate football, anticipates routes well in the pass game and uses his eyes as well as any QB in the draft to manipulate coverages and work his way back across the field. He’s a really bright kid who doesn’t force the ball into coverages and seems comfortable consistently finding secondary options and has really grown up in the Delaware offense. Now, I want to see the guy throw in person because he lacks great arm strength. But, he seems to spin a clean enough football for the most part and I think he has the ability to still make all throws required in the NFL because of his timing and ability to get the ball out of his hands quickly.
