Allright, here's a scenario: Carimi, Sherrod, Titus Young, Nevis, Liuget, Cameron Heyward, and Pouncey are on the board when we get to the 29th pick. What are you doing?

Liuget without a doubt. If he's gone, I'd have a tough time between Sherrod or Pouncey (and I would entertain trade offers). And trading down is something I definitely could see Angelo do.

Based on what I've read, Jake Locker could be falling more.

Yeah I saw the Vikings are going to interview him but it sounds like his accuracy has been bad this week and he's had major inconsistency. Everyone seems to be saying that Stanzi has been the most impressive North QB.

Locker reminds me of Orton a bit.

How so? Locker has all the arm strength and athletic ability that Orton lacks with incredibly poor accuracy.

They're both white & right handed.

Stanzi appears to have been OK so far from what I've read, but Kaepernick looks to have had the best practices from the North, from what I've read. Locker's been the worst of the three, but it'll be interesting to see how much, if any, these couple of days sway the opinions of anyone.

I'm surprised Devlin is rated that high considering no one in the national sports media has talked about him at all

Teams have been high on him since last year. With his skillset, he was going to be rated highly by teams whether the national media talked him up or not. As for analysis, that's one reason I like the NFP. I find out a lot about the really good prospects who the national media ignore. Though Mike Mayock on NFL Network is very good and I know he likes Devlin quite a bit as well.

I think the basic similarities between Devlin and Flacco help as well. Both are big, strong armed QBs with all the tools and are pro-style type QBs who played in a spread, shotgun heavy offense. Some questioned Flacco's ability to adapt to a pro-style offense, but since he did quickly I think there will be fewer questions about Devlin.

Kaepernick fascinates me. He's very much a developmental type QB, but he has really nice physical tools and I liked what I saw from him at Nevada.

If the Titans were to pass on the first round QBs, Kaepernick would probably be my second choice behind Devlin in that second group. I'd want to see them go after an Orton, Palmer or another stopgap for a couple of years while they developed Kaerpernick, though.

Unless this is a smokescreen, the Panthers confuse me.

In news that might not be great for Jimmy Clausen, Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney has declared quarterback the team’s No. 1 need this offseason.

“That's the No.1 need," Hurney told Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. "I think we have good players. It all starts with solidifying that spot. That's something that everybody in the league would agree with.

Would a veteran QB be a need? Sure, but there's no way this is your #1 need. Especially if they do what Hurney said they're considering, and that's taking a QB with the first pick in the draft.

Blast. However, my defense is that the Cubs actually did draft Kaepernick last year, so that's what I was thinking of . . .

I'm sure dew meant the Titans but the Cubs have drafted Kaepernick once before out of Nevada.

Just curious from everyone... Would you be ok if Angelo traded his 1st round pick for say the 46th and 78th pick (both are 14th pick in the 2nd and 3rd round). So Bears wouldn't have a 1st round pick, but they would have the 14th/29th picks in the 2nd and 3rd round though? I would be fine with that IMO considering you would get an extra pick. 29th pick is worth 640 points so any 2 combo picks equal to 640 would work. 38th (6th pick of the 2nd round) and 95th (31st pick of the 3rd round) would work as well. If you want pick 33-37, you would have to have a 4th round pick instead of a 3rd...

I'm not sure on exactly how deep this draft is in terms of the Bears needs are... I've been reading a few mocks and articles about the prospects, but still don't know much. That's why I'm asking about this. If someone already said something about this, let me know and I'll go back in the thread and find it... Just wondering if you guys think it would be worth trading down for the 1st round pick.

I love Liuget, but it would be tough for me to pass up Sherrod that late in the 1st. If all those players on the board though, definitely trade down and hope one is there when the Bears pick (although, Heyward is not a good fit for the Bears).

We gave up approximately 523,721 sacks this year, our only WR that appears to even have a prayer of not being [expletive] is well past his prime...and our #1 need is QB. God, this organization is stupid.

I have not really read this thread so sorry if I am bringing something up already but what is the deal with all the Ryan Mallett off field issues I keep hearing about?

The rumor is that he has substance abuse issues.

Have you been reading Walterfootball.com? I think that dude has a personal vendetta against Mallett. He keeps alluding to stuff, but won't say what it is and apparently it is catching on around the web, but nobody seems to actually know what those character issues are. I've heard drug problems (cocaine, weed). I've heard showing up teammates who drop passes. And he was arrested for a misdemeanor for public intox, 3 months before his 21st birthday.

The drug thing has not been proven at all and Mallett himself and people around the Arkansas program said it's not true.

I think it depends on what the Bears motives are for FA personally. And we don't(and probably won't) know that, assuming there's a lockout. In a normal situation, I'd say yes to the trade you just proposed. But, if we're NOT going to be active in FA, then I want the absolute best value I can get for the O-Line and WR with our top 2 picks. And trading down could cost us from that standpoint.

That said, if we're going to be active(Angelo said we'd address some things in FA at least) trading down and possibly getting a falling Paea, plus picks could be nice. Or something else like that.

Latest Walterfootball mock has Bears with Castonzo, Austin, Dwayne Harris WR from ECU and KJ Wright, OLB from Miss St.

Interesting notes: Ttitus Young up to the 26th pick, Cameron Heyward's stock not being affected, and Paea dropping to the 53rd pick.

The 5 guys being picked right after Castonzo are Liuget, Wilkerson, Pouncey, Wisniewski, and Martez Wilson.

The 5 guys picked right after Austin are Danny Watkins, Dowling, Marcus Cannon, Deandre McDaniel, and Johnny Patrick(CB from Lousville)

The WR corps thins out VERY early at this point, with Hankerson and Baldwin both going off the board by the 41st pick, making it extremely tough for us to nab a solid WR with where we're picking, unless we want to reach for one in the 1st instead of taking solid value with the OLine at the same spot.

I think all 5 of those guys after Austin would be better picks than Austin. I just don't think he's worth the risk.

Greg Little goes the pick before the Bears in the 4th round. I wouldn't hesitate to take him at the end of the 3rd. I also like Cecil Shorts and Vincent Brown who also are mocked to go in the 4th, though Shorts is more of a project as a route runner.

Locker apparently really stunk today. The guy that runs Walterfootball said he's thinking about dropping him into the 2nd round.

Wasn't he considered all but a lock to be a top-5 pick last season, or am I remembering wrong?
