I shed a few tears the last two days, but reading all of these posts reminds me how old I'm getting. My favorite memories of Santo came as a player with Ernie (my favorite), Billy, and Fergie. It's a shame that he didn't get to see the Cubs in the WS or his induction into the HOF.

Even with his lack of preparation, forgetting what inning or play happened, the faxes, the outburst when the Cubs played like the Cubs - there's going to be a hole in the booth that no one will be able to fill for a while.

The hell with the Vets Committee, the HOF needs Ron more than Ron needs the HOF. He was the best 3B of his era (yeah, better than Brooks Robinson), especially some of the borderline players inducted recently (looking at you Bill Mazeroski and Nellie Fox).

Peace, Ronnie.

What would be a great website to sign up for free to upload free audio clips? I got around cleaning the basement of my home, and happened to stumble into my CD booklet, that has some of my CD's that I kept since my HS days, and I also noticed that I have those Cubs CD's that I downloaded from JonMDavis website many years ago, for my listening pleasure when I was on the road. There are about 100 of audio, give or take.

It's been awhile since I actually listened to em, and man, still remember them like as if it was yesterday.

I miss Ronnie already.

And he did it all with full on diabetes. Imagine how good he could've been if he was healthy.

I suppose that's worth a try. Didn't realize it that you can do it that way too as well (audio). Thanks for the heads up, will see if I can get it to work.

Sorry I thought you could but I just checked and it has to be a movie file. You can use windows movie maker and pretty easily create a generic video file with the audio and a picture. But that's a lot of work and I understand if it's too much effort. I would like to hear them though if you do find a way to upload them.

Oh believe me, I do want to upload them. The issue here is that the "free" websites that I have checked out, were garbage, for the most part.

I think its time for a Ron Santo statue at Wrigley.

Also, can he still make it into the Hall? When do they vote next?

Dropbox? If so, just way ahead of you. Heh.

Don't worry about the e-mail and password, I created both of them just for this purpose.

password: Wrigley

Yes, make sure the w is a W when putting in "Wrigley" as a password.

His next chance is a year from now. The Veterans Committee now votes on a three-year rotation and this year the vote is for players whose best years were in the 1970s and later.

Yep that was it. I was gonna let you know that you can make a folder public, and then include the link like I did. Or I guess you could just make the whole thing public.

Mucho props to Lupica for his parting shot on Santo this morning on Sports Reporters.

Somehow coming from a New Yorker it meant that much more. I teared up a little.

Of course I want him to get in, but it will piss me off a little that they will have forced it to be posthumous.

I want him in, even though it will have come too late.

I hate the Sports Reporters and do my best to avoid it. I happened to flip to ESPN a little early yesterday morning just in time to see the Lupica spot. Best thing I ever saw on that show.

As far as the HOF goes, didn't Ronnie make it clear that he didn't want to be inducted posthumously?

You to me were baseball, being 3,200 miles away seemed nothing when listening to you and Pat. Just wished I'd stayed those extra few minutes in 2004 to meet you. A little piece of you will always be in the Boucher house with the signed shirt on my office wall. Will miss you Ronnie.......

I really like to watch Outside the Lines Sunday mornings. Sports Reporters usually finds me flipping over to the morning network broadcasts.

Last Sunday, however, I was looking for a parting shot on Santo. And Lupica delivered a very nice one, IMHO. Most of the time I find him to be a little annoying -- but not this time.

What a great line:

"Ron Santo dead at 70. Survived by anyone who loved the Chicago Cubs."

For those in the Chicago area this week, visitation will be Thursday starting at 4 p.m. at Holy Name Cathedral. Funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m.

I'm sure the procession will pass Wrigley.
