I would love for Auburn to lose the SEC champ game and fall to us in the Rose/Cap One bowl. I think it would get ugly for them.

Newton would wear the Iowa linebackers like a hat as he scored 5 TDs, like he does to every other team in the country.

This is assuming our D-line isn't in the backfield on every play.

Spoiler alert: They will be

The only line he's played that is at or near our caliber is LSU. And barring a miracle run or two, that game goes the other way. And that's with their pathetic offense.

The Auburn offensive line is one of the best in the country, and Newton doesn't take too many sacks when he does pass the ball. Iowa has a great team this season, but I'd be willing to bet they wouldn't shut down the Auburn O.

I think Auburn rushed for like 400 yards against LSU, btw.

A win would be really nice for Tennessee. I expect Tyler Bray to play quite a bit, but I still think Simms will start. If we play like we did against South Carolina and LSU, we should win easily. Memphis is bad.

Need to go 4-0 for a bowl game.

Bray was named the starter today (which I'm glad for, since Simms has been such a whiny punk the past two games), and I don't think Tennessee gets a Bowl Game even if they get to 6-6.

I am just guessing, but I think the SEC shakes out like this:

Bama: MNC Game

Auburn: Sugar

South Carolina: Outback

LSU: Capital One

Arkansas: Cotton

Florida: Gator

Miss. State: Chick-Fil-A

Georgia: Music City

It's possible that a 6-6 Tennessee gets into the Liberty or Papa John's, but I'd be surprised.

Come on Ron Zook Bowl

Mmm did not say they'd get shut down. I think we'll make Cam Newton beat us with his arm and even with his great receiving corps, I don't think he can do it. Meanwhile, McNutt and DJK will go apeshit all over their pathetic secondary. Auburn will score their fair share, but if the line gives Stanzi any time, we shred that secondary.

we shred that secondary.

If Iowa's O line gives Stanzi time to throw, he would definitely shred the AU secondary...it would be an exciting game to watch, imo.

Actually, I got a pamphlet from USC my senior year of high school and since I wanted to do broadcasting really considered applying. When I found out how expensive it was I never did but I always wondered what it would've been like to go there.

Doesn't Wisconsin have the inside track for the Rose Bowl?

Here's a good summary:

• Iowa goes to the Rose Bowl if…

a) It wins out, including a win over Ohio State, and

b) Wisconsin loses one of its last four.

• Michigan State goes to the Rose Bowl if…

a) It wins out, and

b) Wisconsin wins out, and

c) Iowa beats Ohio State.

No one actually called that group of players the next Fab 5 did they?

I do actually think that someone at some point did because I'm not clever enough to think something like that up. I know that Ward, Taylor and Baston came in one year (while Jimmy King and Ray Jackson were still on the team) while Bullock and Traylor were the next year, so it can't be considered an incoming class of 5 players.

ward, taylor, baston, willie mitchell, and travis conlan.

but according to rankings, it was every bit the class the fab 5 was. ward was the #1 player in that class.

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew that new major recruiting class after the fab 5 was highly regarded. Pretty disapointing that that class never made it out of the first weekend of the tourney.

Not that any of that would have counted in the long run anyways.

The Big East announced that they want to expand to 10 teams for football and will start the candidate review process.

TCU and UCF were the 2 teams I've heard are leading the way with mild interest in Temple and Villanova. Are they doing this as football only schools, or is that unwieldly basketball conference going to get even bigger?

Not sure, but I'd imagine they're pretty desperate for good football. The implications for the basketball conference may not be the top priority.

Yeah, it's common trash talk to say that a conference middling teams would be the best team in another conference, but this year this may actually be true, as their statistical best team (Pittsburgh) is lower rated than NC State, Illinois, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Arizona State.

Villanova makes quite a bit of sense to move straight up into the Big East. Besides their other affiliations with the conference in other sports, they've been one of the best FCS programs the last few years. Other former FCS schools in the Big East, such as USF and UConn, have made the transition quite smoothly.

How are their facilities? Sometimes teams that you think should move up don't have a desire to because they don't have the resources or facilities to recruit in D1. I'm not saying thats the case with Villinova since there seems to be interest, I am just curious to see if they have things in place to move from FCS to a quasi BCS D1 program. It's not like when North Dakota St. moved up.

Sounds like Michigan's best CB (I use the term "best" very lightly) JT Floyd is out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. I don't understand how so many things can go wrong with one secondary.
Posted

Word is that Michigan just lost another member of their defense today as CB JT Floyd apparently suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

An Illinois win on Saturday pretty much relegates Michigan to the Little Caesar Bowl or Dallas Football Classic if they can pick up a 6th win on the road at Purdue (probably happens). More than likely, the winner between Northwestern and Penn State will battle Illinois for the 5th bowl selection.

I love it....everyone called me insane when I suggested Michigan wouldnt make a bowl when they were 5-0. They told me this year was different than last year and UM was better. Now it comes down to beating Purdue, a team we lost to last year at home. I say its about 50-50 we beat Purdue, thus about 52% chance we make a bowl

what the hell is the dallas football classic

A new bowl game, played on Jan. 1 in the Cotton Bowl Stadium.

i see the teams participating in that game are:

Big Ten No. 6 vs. Big 12 No. 7 (C-USA No. 7 if no Big Ten or Big 12, MAC is the second backup)

sounds like a real dandy.
